So, if you add some of the f-pack to the primary, do you still add the same amount of sugar or is the SG your target?
In your experience, which kits need the full f-pack? Reds vs whites?
Wade:
How much sugar did you add? Did you add 1/2 the f-pack up front, too?
As someone asked, how do you store an opened f-pack? In the fridge or??
Thanks!
Nice label, Wade! I've checked out your other labels and was curious what you'd come up with for this kitas I have it, too. You've been at this longer than I have but I had to chuckle how your labels have progressed from Evan Cellars to Wade's Wines...I go between SueMac and my last name so I...
Wade: I bought one, too but I have been tied up with Hard Limeade recipe and Hard Iced Tea recipe. Please post how it goes and describe in detail how it tastes!
My husband LOVES the OCP! It's hasn't even been bottled 3 months and 1/2 the bottles are gone (okay - I gave one to my brother)! He recently tasted an ice wine that has aged a bit and he now understands that some wines need time to improve, mellow, flavor enhance...Next year I'll have to get 2...
It's funny you should say that you're just following the directions...that's always my mantra with cooking - follow the recipe exactly the first time and then tweak if needed for next time. How does one really know if you're making it better if you don't know what it's intended to be?
I'm glad...
Kg233:
Any update on the Mango Mint Chenin Blanc? I like mango and mint, and I prefer white wines but I'm not sure of the combo so I'm anxious to hear of the outcome! Please post!
TinaLouise:
Debating about upping ABV a bit, adding 1/2 f-pack in beginning and then other 1/2 in secondary or just doing as directions dictate. How were you thinking of doing this kit??
I'm not partial to reds but I was considering Acai Cab Sauv. Pls post if you did anything special and...
Wayne and NW:
Thanks for the info. Some recipes call for using a stainless steel pot, let cool and add to plastic primary. Others call for adding boiling water to plastic primary and then cover with sanitized cloth until cools...
Question:
Is it safe to pour boiling water over the raisins and sugar in a plastic primary fermentation bucket? I was thinking of using my SS beer making pot and then transfer to plastic primary when somewhat cooled. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks Vpc. Yes, I have the recipe from Jack Keller's site, too.
All the recipes that I've come across seem fairly similar. Just wondering
if someone has a recipe that they can personally rave about...
Hello.
Looking for Raisin Wine recipe. Checked mywinerecipes.com and no luck. I have send a message to Polish Wine Princess as ina previous post she said that she had one.
I do have a book called Mary's Recipes that has a Raisin Wine and I have found some on the internet...Looking for one...
Just wondering if Winexpert and RJ Spagnols are head to head in competition...in other words, RJS has new OB kits - can we expect any new ones from WE (IM for example)?
Okay, now I'm intruiged!
Where did you get yours?
Stainless steel or aluminum?
How much did you pay for it?
Thoughts on models, sizes, etc.?
Methods, recipes, etc.?
Tips, advice, etc.? Tell me all!!! (Please?)!
Thanks again for your advice. appleman: While I like geraniums, it's for their color not their smell. I'll take your word for it and I will use the k-meta! Thanks!
Thanks again for your responses.
Tepe you phrased it well:
"It's to MY tastes". So there is no right amount per say - trial and error.
Aslong as I add pot sorbate so it doesn't referment, I'll be okay with whatever I do for a "f-pack".
Thanks for your responses!
appleman and Whinemaker: As I only tasted a bit at bottling, the sulfites may have wreaked havoc with my senses. I'll be more patient and open a bottle this week.
tepe and Wade (and anyone else!): I've gone back over my notes about f-packs. While I get the...
