    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Yes, I add the whole grapes to a nylon fruit bag and squeeze it daily. When doing a berry batch, I'll pull it out when the berries are pretty much completely disintegrated as long as I'm fairly close to a S.G. of 1.000 but with grapes I do "leave it on the skins" until I'm ready to rack to my...

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Not as pretty as your Saskatoon @KCCam but here's the Huckleberry "Moscato" DB that's in my glass right now.

Looking to make wine with home grown grapes

Hi! If you want to try using your own grapes but don't think you have enough, consider making a Danger Dave's Dragon Blood wine. You can make a batch with as little as 6 lbs of fruit. I make straight grape versions all the time and my favorite is actually one with Concord grapes. Wine kits are...

    Floating sediment after bottling

I've had this happen probably 3-4 times since I began making wine 6 years ago. I once had a wine drop sediment within a couple days of bottling 😢 I know I had it happen on a DB made with all green grapes and on a Skeeter Pee. What I believe happened in my case is that I was rushing the clearing...

    Headspace?

Update! I went ahead and bottled the wine just to be safe. I also ordered the headspace eliminator for my AIO as suggested by @KCCam so I won't have to stress about this in the future. Thanks for all of the advice!

    DangerDave's Dragon Blood Wine

Hi! I've made Dragon Blood in about a million combinations. I make grape only versions all the time. Most often I don't even know what types of grapes they are as I'm just given them by friends and family who have grapevines in their yards. One of our favorites though is the version I make with...

    Should I add more k-meta?

Just 24 hours after adding the second dose of SuperKleer, my wine is clearing very nicely. 😊

    Headspace?

There was even more headspace in that carboy as it was larger yet so I was hoping that but racking it into a smaller one, I'd solve the issue. But there was quite a bit of sediment so I'm back to having more headspace than I want.

    Headspace?

Thanks for the info... I'm going to order one!
  12. Val-the-Brew-Gal

    Headspace?

It's about 5.5 gallons in a 6 gallon carboy. It's ready to bottle, I was just hoping to wait a week until another batch was ready so I could do them all at once.

    Headspace?

I think I'll just bottle it this afternoon then. I was hoping that it would be okay for a week but if there is chance it could cause issues, I'll make it work to get it done today.

    Headspace?

I'll see if someone else chimes in. In the meantime, I appreciate your input!

    Should I add more k-meta?

It's a grape and triple berry 2:1. It's not pectin haze as this is 30 minutes after adding the chitosan part of the SuperKleer. I won't worry about extra k-meta if you think it should be fine. 😊
  16. Val-the-Brew-Gal

    Headspace?

    Well, a lot actually 🤪
  17. Val-the-Brew-Gal

    Headspace?

I've finished clearing a batch of DB but I'm waiting for another batch to finish up so I only need to deal with carboy cleaning once. The wine has quite a bit of headspace after racking off the lees. Will it be okay for the week or so (hopefully) that it will take the other wine to catch up or...

    Should I add more k-meta?

I recently made a batch of Dragon Blood. I went through all the regular end of fermentation steps, including degassing with my AIO, and then added SuperKleer. As anyone who uses the product knows, it usually clears wine within just a few days. However, I'm 2 weeks in and it hasn't cleared much...

Hi All, Its me from India...

I've made wine with about any grape I can get my hands on from friend's and family's grapevines and they are often table grapes...they've always turned out great. One of our favorites is wine made with Concord grapes 🍇 It's like grape juice with a nice kick 😊

Which “triple berry blend” to use for DB?

I often use the Costco organic four berry... raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. But I've made it with about whatever homegrown fruit I can get my hands on...peaches, apricots, elderberries, plums, June berries, huckleberries and multiple types of grapes. I would say that...
