I may change my views on Rosé Wine

Nope. Good question. It crept up a bit like you correctly insinuated. Bumped to 3.4 from 3.65 or something. Came in at 3.48 post AF. Then eventually 3.52. (Accidental mlf). I wanted to target 3.3 pre fermentation to eventually land in the 3.4 range- as I was advised was an ideal ph for a...

SG still at 0.9975, What would you do?

Might be beating a dead horse here. .997 is done imo. Sometimes they ferment dry at .992. Sometimes .998. (‘dry’ meaning as dry as the wines able to go) But the wine makes the decision for ya. Any residual sugar is too small to restart….or even matter. Even at 1.010 the abv would be too...

Ideas for storing 375ml small bottles?

One of these days I’ll build myself a proper storage system. But until then the cardboard boxes that the bottles came in work for me. I keep the tops open and folded in and set it up on its side. I only stack it two boxes high. And I shim up the bottom front 3/4” for a slight pitch

I may change my views on Rosé Wine

Im still super green regarding rosé and only just bottled my 1st attempts last week. I’m pretty sure it’s a tossup tho. Depending on the specific grapes sometimes it might benefit and sometimes not. Kinda like how winemakers will make decisions based off the taste of the unfermented juice...

I may change my views on Rosé Wine

None really. I wouldn’t call them ‘tweaks’ but I did do some things to guide it along. But really ust trying not to screw it up! I just bottled my first 2 from last year. First one I added acid upfront. Bumped ph to about 3.4. Sat for a day, racked off the sediment then Fermented dry w/ d47...

Can i steal my neighbors overgrowth?

You actually think so? That video in post #12 that @David Violante posted looked kinda cool. Was thinking about doing something like that — basically the same as the water bottle method that others mentioned. Was just a little unsure about the ideal location to draw roots. Or if the method of...

    New Barrel

tons of fake scammer sites for home winemaking barrels out there. A company doesn’t even exist usually. But you’ll see fake positive reviews and you know the deal. Then you’ll see A handful of bad real reviews pop up and people alerting it’s a scam— then website shuts down. Then rinse repeat...

    Why is my wine 'thin'?

yes. for bold red juice buckets i agree not a bad idea to add sugar to about 1.100. and add this: https://www.juicegrape.com/Mosti-Mondiale-All-Grape-Pack/ and this: https://morewinemaking.com/products/additive-pack-brehm-frozen-fruit-reds.html and some oak in aging. and the longer you...

    Barriques vs Puncheons: Differences

lol. that was a fun thread. and an interesting rabbit hole to fall into. the fact that smaller barrels defy logic and go neutral faster and the whole tossing an oak plank into the ocean argument.

    Rosé ZERO skins time!

Six Flags was a horrible idea. just like i said it would be. I voiced my opinion, was disregarded....but i digress. I think the entire state had the same idea as us. We couldn’t even get near the parking lot! So we called an audible, hung a U-turn and hit up America’s 1st zoo for the day...

    new welding kit advice

when i said sloppy welds i just meant dirty. a less than perfect looking weld but still structurally sound. with some splatter/slag i guess, or spots where the rod stuck. i’m just basing that off my stick welding classes from my apprenticeship. i do remember if i went too slow the metal...

    new welding kit advice

information overload! i may be stepping into a new obsession here. And tbh this part of it right now —-the narrowing down what my first few purchases should be to gear up is just part of the fun. My home shop i’ve got a little mechanic corner, electrical, plumbing (just using the little...

    new welding kit advice

I knew this forum would have some useful info for me! And yeah definitely had a few SS projects in mind. I tend to be a pack rat- and have done a ton of work in hospitals over the years. Tons of SS shelving, carts, cabinetry, etc that ive accumulated over the years always telling myself -...

    new welding kit advice

NEVER!! I could never/would never have someone else make that. I don’t care about sloppy welds or jagged cuts— that could be cleaned up after the fact. And it’s not something very important so i don’t care how long it would take either. tooling up and figuring it all out myself is...
