    Oak

I was wondering if there are any suggestions on types of oak cubes for Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon. I know everyones tastes are different but was asking for suggestions. I have been checking on some of the Petite Sirahs I like such as David Micheals Petite Petite and it uses 87% French...

    Dissolving Label Paper - cool!

Mine are the OL4546WI - Weatherproof Gloss inkjet for 123.73 for 100 sheets. Makes me want to research a different printer for labels to bring the price down. I tried the OL4546WR - removable white matte table and they were too much trouble to remove. The OL4546WI peels right off and I can stick...

    Dissolving Label Paper - cool!

I buy these labels from online labels, You are able to peel these off clean and you can reuse them after pulling off. So I'll label 15 or so bottles and then as I drink a bottle I'll peel the label off and stick it on the next bottle that I did not label, Cutting the cost some on labeling...

    Finer Wine Kit Petite Sirah

I did a 6 week Extended maceration on mine and it was a year old on 8-3-2023 and bottled since 5-25-23. It is pretty good but I have to decant it and no colder then 62-65F or room Temp. I'm hoping at 18 -24 months it will be quite nice. People I have let drink it liked it as well. Hope yours get...

    Finer Wine Kit Petite Sirah

I have a bottle of Bogle Petite Sarah. I will have to make a note to check the color out. Yesterday I reconstituted the juice of the FWK PS and I will be pitching the yeast today. I added 1/2 tsp of ColorPro to the must and skins. I should be able to see how it compares in a couple months.

I have the Burgundy Superior Portuguese wine corker and it has not left any creases on the Nomacorcs. No problems at all. It also has the plastic jaws.

    Finer Wine Kit Wine age

I have the following recent bottled wines and my brother was interested in trying some. Would any of these be worth opening yet? Just wondering what others have experienced with theirs before cracking open any. I figured it would need at least a year and we are having a gathering this weekend...

    Vineco Amarone signature series

Thanks for the info @Wj74. I started the vineco signature series Amarone a few months ago and it is bulk aging on oak. My en premier Amarone I bottled in May. It is 13 months old. It is tasting real good if I aerate it and let it sit for a bit. I wished I had added more oak. I added about 1.5 oz...

Thanks. I did not realize that. It only mentioned petite sirah on the label. Is petite Verdot more or deeper purple? I have a boogle Petite sirah I can compare too to it.

    Finer Wine Kit Petite Sirah

Thanks Bryan. That may be something I could try on my next batch. My wife and I’s palate is not that developed and taste wise, we think they are real close in taste. She thought she like the FWK smells better but taste wise not much difference. This just turned over a year so maybe a few more...

    Finer Wine Kit Cabernet Sauvignon

I checked the SG before pitching yeast and one went to 1.110 and the other stayed 1.108. Still not bad. This years cab the brix is a little higher than last years and the ph is a little lower. Should make a good wine.

    Finer Wine Kit Petite Sirah

I was setting here enjoying my 2022 Petite Sirah and doing a comparison with a David Michael Petite Petite (Petite Sirah). I was wondering what makes the David Micheals Petite Sirah so purple compared to the FWK Petite Sirah that looks more red. Both are Lodi vineyards. Is it because of the type...

    Finer Wine Kit Cabernet Sauvignon

I received and started two FWK Cabernet Sauvignon kits today. Both kits I added the juice and filled to 6gal line. Stirred and let sit for a couple hours and re-stirred. Tested SG and both are at 1.108 and both PH is 3.59. Amazing how both ended up identical. I’ll test again tomorrow before...

Finer Wine Kit FWK -PH LEVEL

So my 2022 FWK Cabernet, Sonoma and Meritage wines have been aging for 10-11 months and thought I would bottle them today. Tested the ph level again. The Cabernet and Meritage is both coming in at PH 3.81. Is this pretty normal for them? Just wondering if it is low enough to store for a few...

Finer Wine Kit FWK Petite Sarah

I bottled my Forte Petite Sirah last week. Started Aug 3,2022 and bottled May 25, 2023. Close to 10 months. Wine tasted good. Still has a little tartness. I wonder how long in the bottle it may take to smooth out?
