    What are your 2017 goals?

Get my Mezza Luna Red kit made. Make plenty of DB and the variations I have been planning all winter. Enter my apple wine in the county fair. And last but not least, I plan to keep having fun with winemaking!

    Holiday Winemaking Plans

I'm headed to the Big City for Christmas next weekend but I plan to start a 6 gallon batch of "fruit salad" DB with a Riesling base, a batch of triple berry DB and also a 3 gallon batch of elderberry wine over the New Year's weekend. I might also start a couple of gallons of limoncello if I have...

    Noob mistake confession

Bodenski, my first batch of cider/wine was a comedy of my errors. I didn't know I had not degassed it nearly enough and I forgot to add k-meta and sorbate before racking it into glass jugs. Add the fact I stored the jugs in an area that reached temperatures well over 100 degrees for a week...

    November 2016 WOTM Club

Did some searching among my supplies and found a lone packet of E-1118 and a partial packet of nutrient. Hurrah! :h Rehydrated the E-1118 and added a heaping teaspoon of energizer, a half teaspoon of sugar and a heaping teaspoon of nutrient. Along with a heating pad set on very low and...

    November 2016 WOTM Club

@Stressbaby and @Jericurl: Thank you for the great advice! About 3 AM this morning I actually thought of adding the energizer and extra yeast. I wonder what psychology experts would say about me dreaming about wine recipes and how to improve current batches? At least it is pleasant thoughts...

SPICED APPLE WINE I started a 2 gallon batch of apple wine this weekend. Recipe is a very slight tweak on Pappy's Pub Cider on homebrewtalk.com. 2 gallons of Tree Top apple juice 4 pounds (8 cups) sugar 1 packet of Montrachet yeast--using what I have on hand--waiting for the end of...

    Deer deterrents

Ground up dried ghost peppers or bonnet peppers mixed with some feed corn. Sprinkle it around, they consume it and they won't be back for a while.

    Awesome white wine

Does this recipe work well with other juices or juice blends, such as pineapple-guava or cranberry and apple? The peach-grape sounds very nice too.

    Other OB Sunshine Sensation

Has anyone made the Orchard Breezin' Citrus Sunshine and is it something you would make again? The idea of a grapefruit forward wine cooler appeals to me.

    What's in your glass tonight?

Patience has its rewards :-) Enjoying the apple wine I made a year ago. Now I understand what all of you mean about being patient! Last year NASA could have used this stuff to launch rockets into the far reaches of outer space :) Trust me I nearly dumped it all but I stuck it in the back of...

    What's for Dinner?

Slow cooked pork ribs and a bottle of Rauch Ranch Winery Rock Wall Red, a very nice Sangiovese Sirah blend. I definitely recommend this wine!

Simple Pear Wine Recipe from Juice?

I have an abundance of Asian pears this year so I am thinking about running them through a juicer. Would anyone be willing to share a simple tried-and-true recipe for wine made from fresh pear juice? If I am lucky I will have about 2 gallons of juice. Thanks in advance!

    Gotta Love MoreWine

MoreWine is the best option for me living in rural northern CA. I try to wait until I have more than $50 worth of products and get the free shipping. Works great when I order wine kits because they get here basically overnight. The free shipping option doesn't apply to bottles unfortunately.

Gotta read the small print LOL...

Since last September, I have been looking forward to entering some Dragon's Blood and some of my homemade liqueurs in the local county fair this year. Printed the entry forms Sunday August 7 to turn in during the week. That is when I found out the deadline was...Saturday, August 6. At least...

    Winemaking has taught me...

I have learned a few things from winemaking in the past year or so...no particular order... I learn something new with every batch. Being creative is fun. :db Wine doesn't always turn out as planned. That's where creativity comes in. :h Time may or may not fix it. Sometimes "good...

    This years fruits

Really enjoying these posts about the berry harvests. I have a good-sized patch of youngberry and raspberry vines planted by my father-in-law years ago. Vines aren't on trellises, just growing rampant at ground level. When it comes to harvesting the berries, the blackbirds I can handle, it's...
