    What R you doing today?

Two full weeks and the deck rebuild remodel is finished. Very happy with the contractor and the finished job, both quality and look. Mostly glad we took the opportunity to expand the size. Time to move stuff back onto it.

    What R you doing today?

They finished laying down the Trex except for some of the edges. Tomorrow they plan to put the railings back up and build a new staircase. Very close to being complete and I'm following the weather reports and planning what to BBQ over the weekend.

    What's for Dinner?

Made Taco Salads with left over chuck roast. Made the shells from flour tortillas in the oven. First I filled with refried beans and jack. Second layer was beef mixed with green chiles then cheddar. Third topping was the lettuce, tomato and red onion and finally a dressing made up with mayo...

Over the weekend my goal was to paint all the joists, beams and posts. I started each day at about 6:00 and worked to about Noon. Temps reached 108 each day, maybe 103 about noon when I quit. AC unit was replaced Friday so Saturday we moved back out of our motorhome and into the house. The...

Thanks for the suggestion, I realized I didn’t think to mention that the contractor brought in the AC guy and is covering all costs. Guess I got the one fair guy in the state by dumb luck.

    What R you doing today?

Sharing an expensive tip that my contractor, his workers or I have never considered. When working above an Air Conditioner coil/fan unit take care to keep objects smaller than the grate on top from dropping into the unit. A single deck screw fell, hit the rotating fan, pierced it slightly but...

    What R you doing today?

The contractor showed up on time and stripped the surface of the deck and removed the railing. Started at 7ish and were gone by about 12:00. I have to assume that since we're under a heat warning that started 3 days ago and will last until tomorrow night they'll be working short days. 113 to day...

    What R you doing today?

Cleared the back deck of chairs, tables, BBQs and outdoor play stuff this morning before it got too hot. We have a crew starting demo on it tomorrow morning. Switching from the wood planking to Trex. They're using the existing support frame, just adding a joist between each existing one so that...

    Onlyfire kettle insert kit

Do any of our resident grillers have any experience or thoughts on this ceramic insert and deflector kit for the Webber Kettle? Looks like it might be nice for indirect long cooks and at approx. $100.00 seems like something worth looking into.

Let's just say when you buy a test meter that reads up to the 7000 volts that the fence wire puts out..... make sure you hold on to only the insulated handles..... ask me how I know it's working......:sh

    What R you doing today?

I finished setting up an electric fence around my vines and took the advice of @ChuckD to run alternating charged wires. All seems to be working fine and I additionally set it up on a timer. We only see the Javalinas in the early morning hours so the fence turns off from 8am till 8pm. No need to...

zinfandel vines seem to be progressing just fine. I'm thinking my pruning so far has got me lined up to start forming spurs in decent locations at the end of the season.

    What R you doing today?

I Bought all the supplies today to run an electric wired fence around my vines to protect from Javalina but have one concern. My vineyard area has approx. 3" on gravel as ground cover and I'm not sure if it conducts electricity well enough to complete the circuit and deliver a shock or if I'm...
