    Gall in my frontenacs.

That's the way a few of my vine are, Rich. Just about every leaf is curled and deformed. I wish I had known this much a few years ago when it first showed up. I'm not sure whether they have enough leaves to ripen the fruit that is on them.

    Gall in my frontenacs.

Yes sir, you nailed it. The book the gentleman used this morning, didn't mention phylloxera, but it's the same thing. Let me know if it gets in your verona. I hope it doesn't. It's funny, none of the rest of my grapes have it, only the frontenac. We will see how this plays out!

    Gall in my frontenacs.

Last year I had a few of my frontenac vines had bumps on the leaves. It wasn't very widespread, and I thought it was an insect laying eggs in the leaf. It was late enough that I didn't worry about it. This year, it was back, and in just about every vine. So I took a leaf to a garden center...

    Verona Grape vines

No sir, I have my norton on GDC trellis. I haven't built trellis for the Verona yet. I have built all my trellis out of steel, since I have been a welder all my life. Will do the same for the Verona. I'll have to look back and see what Dell recommended for trellis on them though.

    Verona Grape vines

You can get Verona from Dell Schott at Bevins Creek Nursery. I got 26 one yr old vines this spring with tremendus root structure. Great people to eal with. Mine are now an average of twelve inches out of the grow tubes and are doing great. Dell's email is; [email protected]

    Black Rot?

Yup, that's exactly what mine look like, but not quite that bad. It really didn't last long enough to knock any leaves off, but it sure bruises and busts up the berries! I'd post a pic of mine, if I was smart enough to know how to do it!:ft

    Black Rot?

My frontenac look almost identical to that, and mine is from a hail storm we had just over a week ago. I went out the next morning and didn't see hardly any damage, but with every passing day, it showed up more. It surly thinned the clusters for me!

    Question about bagging grapes.

The first wire needs to be 5-6 inches off the ground. The next, about 10 and the next about 8 inches higher. Make sure they cannot climb up on something or a tree that hangs over the fence, they can avoid the fence, they will be on your grapes! They can get pretty creative.

    Question about bagging grapes.

***** are something I know about! I've been a trapper all my life, and they are plentiful, especially since this last downturn of the fur market. The only way to discourage a **** is an electric fence. The problem with electric fences, is if a blade of grass grows up to the wire unnoticed, it...

    Question about bagging grapes.

Masbustelo, I have about fifty norton and about thirty frontenac, as well as about 60 concord with a few cataba thrown in. I don't care as much about the concord, but would really like to try the bags on the frontenac and norton. I might add, that there are some one and two leaf vines in the...

    Question about bagging grapes.

Masbustelo, I spent the noonhour lokking at bags, and found some regular old hardware bags for like 13.00 bucks for 250, and you have to buy two bunches for a total of 500. Had almost pulled the pin on them, and read your post. I haven't the fogiest were to find bakery bags, and there are no...

    Question about bagging grapes.

If I can locate some bags that fit.....the right size for the job, I'm going to give it a go. Maybe on a small scale to get my feet wet! I have been considering doing this for several years....I'll let you know how it goes! If nothing else, it would be worth it just to keep the spiders out of...

    Question about bagging grapes.

I have thought very seriosly about it. I have lost the majority of my grapes here several years due to wasps and flies. I have posted f this in the past. I have enough vines now though, that it would be very labor intensive. By doing that, I would be able to let the fruit hang and get the...

    Frozen and Lost Buds

I am of the opinion that they will push new buds, but not certain. I say this because, my frontenacs and nortons both just keep pushing buds on the trunks, after I rub them all off, they keep putting them on! I would probably be keeping the trunks cleaned off, to force the vine to put it's...

    method to kill trees

Good discussion guys. This has given me some ideas on how to handle "my problem"! I will look for copper nails, as much carpentry and building I've been around, I have never seen them. I will start my quest into the elusive copper nail!:db. Thanks again for all the ideas.

    method to kill trees

I don't believe I've ever seen copper nails. That sounds like just what I'm looking for, but finding copper nails might be the deal breaker!

    method to kill trees

Grapeman, the glyphosate won't transfer between roots like toradon? This tree is about ten feet from my frontenacs, and it's gotta go, but It scares me. I've heard of mixes of diesel fuel and antifreeze, but I'm worried about the carrying through the roots!
