    Are these still good

Wow! you must have an industrial strength freezer to hold a 5 gal bucket!!! They may take a while to thaw but they should be fine. I freeze mine in gallon zip lock bags and they're good for a couple of years - maybe a tad freezer burned but fully useable.

Black Walnut Leaf Wine - I'm going for it!

I'm in the same boat. Someone asked me the other day if I had lived in my hometown my entire life. I told them not yet but I was gettin' close!!!;) Reference to spring was concerning waiting until spring to gather walnut leaves. Nope, NC but I am in the Southern part of the piedmont! Does that...

Black Walnut Leaf Wine - I'm going for it!

OK Dave, hope you're satisfied now! See what you started!!! :p Could be the beginnings of another mega trend like Skeeter Pee!!👍 QuiQuog has an excellent point concerning the leaves. Walnut, hickory, butternut, etc are all in the same family (Duh Walnut!) and members have compound leaves -...

Black Walnut Leaf Wine - I'm going for it!

Got the old "winemaker's itch" and may have to try a 1 gal run with the old leaves - it'a a long time until spring! Walnuts here in NC are one of the last trees to leaf in spring. One question if you please, which yeast did you use? I'm becoming interested in natural fermentation but don't...

Black Walnut Leaf Wine - I'm going for it!

Thanks for your time Dave. I have at least one of CJJ Berry's books but thought you were referring to a specific recipe -my bad. Additional research on this site indicated that you were combining several recipes. I have logged your methodology in my notes and will make a test run next spring...

    Natural/Spontaneous Fermentation

I’ve been following the various threads here dealing with natural/spontaneous fermentation with great interest. Many of the members have done an exceptional job of describing and documenting their experiences with spontaneous fermentation and the quality of the resulting wines. I’ve been a...

A little help from my friends - stuck fermentation

Hey ryanstimmel, it's a "head space eliminator"as Rice Guy indiacted. Got it and several other items from allinonewinepump and have been very satisfied. I use a homemade vacuum system to rack, degass, and bottle and it works very well. I also purchased a custom bottle filler from...

    Lemon Wine

Your corrected pH should be OK. I'd watch it for a couple of days and see if it ignites. Did you supply nutrients? Also, I wonder about the 24.4 brix (>14 % PA). That brix coupled with your current pH may have slowed things down a bit. Keep an eye on it and let us know. Lots of good advice...

    Welches Frozen concentrate

Thanks Dave! I'm looking specifically for Niagara juice concentrate for a recipe I made 5+ years ago. Never thought I'd have so much trouble finding it these days.

    Welches Frozen concentrate

Thanks BarrelMonkey and sorry I didn't notice the link in your original post. I checked it out and saw that it was a pre-mix. It isn't sold in my area according to their locater. I can't even find "store brand" Niagara frozen concentrate so the search continues.

    Welches Frozen concentrate

Thanks BarrelMonkey, is this the white grape juice in a plastic bottle on the aisle with the other prepackaged juices? I got the impression that it was some kind of super sterilized/irradiated (to insure extra long shelf life without freezing ) concentrate that you still had to dilute with...

    Welch's Juice Concentrates discontinued.... ???

Sir: Have you seen this product recently? Thanks for any additional info you can supply.

    Welches Frozen concentrate

Don't think he was referring to the bottled juice because he mentions "concentrate". Here's his quote: "All of you looking for Welch's concentrated 100% grape juice....it's still available. It's now in a non frozen can, shelf stable. I've spoken to Welch's twice in the last 4-6 weeks. There's...

    Welches Frozen concentrate

Oops, my bad! I should have researched the site/google a little better. Looks like many brands of frozen concentrate have been discontinued; however, a member mentioned back in 2020 that Welches still has a non-frozen concentrate on the stable life shelf. Has anyone seen this product? It was...

    Welches Frozen concentrate

Does anyone know why Welch's Frozen 100% White Grape Juice Concentrate is unavailable in stores at the present? I've checked a dozen or more stores in my area that used to carry the concentrate and they all told me it was out of stock. This is my go-to concentrate for "Bailout Blanc", an easy...

Judging Watermelons - Save for the future!

One last attempt at uploading the watermelon/straw video. If it doesn't work this time, I give up. As noted above, no smoke and mirrors, no breeze, the real deal but I have no idea why it works. I was able to email the link to another member this morning so maybe the 3rd time is the charm...
