I cork immediately after filling a bottle. Actually, as quickly as possible after removing the bottle from the filler, sometimes I remove the bottle too quickly from from the filler (did someone mention patience?). That is, before the wine in the bottle has stabilized again. Then you really have...
Like I said, if you are happy with a low level of carbonation, it might work.
Some carbonation basics; there are three things to consider here - the expected level of carbonation is achieved by the applied pressure at a given temperature. (less pressure is needed to reach a given level of...
Well, I would say you can't unless you're happy with a (very) low level of carbonation. I tried and I wasn´t happy with a tap like the one you have suggested because I carbonate the wine heavily and no matter how long my serving tube (3/16") is, I will get too much foam (I tried with over 10...
The first times I did sparkling wine, I used the Champange method including riddling (collecting the yeast in the neck of the bottle) and disgorging. However, though pretty cool to do, it wasn't a reliable method as @vinny wrote. So I turned to force carbonation and I will never go back to...
I made my first wine kit in the second part of the 1970s. Like @sour_grapes dad, I wasn't that impressed to say the least but it certainly did the trick....
Europe is slightly bigger than USA but if we exclude Russia (which we should) and only consider the European Union. Its area is roughly half of that of USA (~45%) but the pupulation is bigger in the EU (450 vs 330 millions). Shorter distances and more people, so why not?
Aggh, so that's why my wine shop stopped selling it. That's bad as it is/was my fav yeast for Italian reds,,,
Edit: I assume, if this is correct, that the online sellers will only sell it as long as they have it on stock.
They have 1+1 Corks that are made the same way as the twincorks I’m buying from Belgium.
On a side note, puzzled by the ”weights” under details. I assume they are having problems with metric units.
From where did you order these?
I haven't been able to find any european retailer so please let me know if you find one.
I have been buying corks from Belgium; for short term - these Wine cork TWINCORK NORM 39mm 100 pcs rated for +5 years or these for longer term - Wine cork TWINCORK EXTRA...
To the best of my knowledge, Pinot Grigio is seldom oaked, that might be for a reason. Having said that, I have tried it in Italy once, not the best Grigio I have tried.
What Moscato kit is that?
On a side note: I always been puzzled that so many carboys are marked as if 6 gallons was exactly 23 liter. The difference isn't big, but 6 gallons is 22,7 liter. Don't know if the difference between the top and bottom of the ridge is 0,3 liter though.
Not @sourgrapes, but it's done by calibration using a set of standard weights or if that's not possible, by checking it against a know exact object (like a number of coins).
EDIT: The real @sourgrapes beat me to it!
Edit 2: You could use a 250 ml glass measuring cylinder if you have one. It's...
