Cherry Wine Low Acidity and Bitterness

lol we all have our own tastes as to how we like the sweetness. You might want to slowly bring the sweet up from dry and keep tasting. I like sweet stuff, but bet 1.040 would be way sweeter than I would like. Just try sweetening a test sample and see what your taste buds say. No offence...

1st 2 batches 1 kit one home canned wild plum

Well, got another pkg. of yeast? Try a cupful of your must, add the yeast. Let it sit, keep it at 75 degrees orso. If it starts fermenting, add another cupful. Keeps fermenting, add some more. This might take a couple to a few days. Keep adding til you get a quart to a gallon, then pitch...

It only took 4 1/2 Years Strawberry Wine

Once had a strawberry. Was the nicest medium red. Came time to rack it and hit it with k-meta and it overnite turned about the same color as Scooters. Tasted fine, tho. There is no more. :(😭 Working on another batch now. Arne.

Degassing Homebrew Wine the easy way without special tools

Looks like a good way to have wine spurting out the top of the airlock. You want the easy way to degass? Ask the lazy guy. Just leave it sit in the carboy. It will degass over time. Arne.

    Skeeter pee help!

how warm is the must? Probably want it in the mid 70's or so. No reason to pitch the batch. It should be fine. IF you want it to take off fast, follow the origional recipe. Rack another wine off its lees. Mix your S.P. ingredients on top of the lees. Use the same primary I have found you...

    Nat's

Instead of using a spray pattern, use a stream. Kinda like shootin ducks. Might as well make it a game instead of work. Arne.

Dawg, You might want to get that furnace checked out. Pilot lights don't just go out once in a while, there is a reason for it. One and the big one is it could be a cracked heat exchanger. Others, weak thermocouple, dirty pilot, propane regulator not working properly, and a bunch of others...

@hounddawg I have a smoker grill, never actually used it for smoking. It is a commercial one, designed along the same lines as yours. The smoke box is not nearly as big. You made yours, found mine in the trash pile. Couple of hours work and it was like new. Was looking for the trolley off...

@hounddawg show us a pic of the offset smoker. Think I know what you are talking about, but not sure. Thanks, Arne. Oh, and good eating and drinkin. Tomorrow or later is plenty soon for the pic. I'm going to get a cataract removed in the morning, won't be on for a while. At least til...

    What varieties to plant?

Don't know how far south you are, but just north of Salina are the Smoky Hills vinyards. If you get up that way, you might stop in and see what they are growing. Maybe talk to the folks and see what they say. Havn't been there for a while but they were very friendly when we stopped in. Arne.
