    What's in your glass tonight?

Another wine I can't get in Canada. Zin is always better when they blend a bit of petite sirah into it!

    What's in your glass tonight?

Our field to fork meal. Last fall we hunted, field dressed and processed our own white tailed deer. I foraged at superstore for the other ingredients and we ground our own meat and made sausage. I made the wine from a kit (eclipse, the good old days) everything is better when you make it yourself.

    What's in your glass tonight?

A great day of fishing led to more walleye linguine alfredo with this big buttery chardonnay. Not as good as the best California offerings but really good.

Can't get this from Winexpert anymore. Over 3 years old and still pretty good.

    What's in your glass tonight?

Found this in the cellar. It's been there for a while now. One of my favourite California wines. Will enjoy with a rib steak and pasta.

    What's in your glass tonight?

You might think I'm from the Okanagan valley of BC, but I'm really from Saskatchewan. This was a limited edition for wine club members. Enjoying with a nice striploin and pasta.

    What's in your glass tonight?

My favorite Okanagan vineyard which refers to itself as an "Italian inspired vineyard", but fashions its wine in a decidedly French method, but produces wines with intensity found in finer California wines. With pork tenderloin tonight.

    What's in your glass tonight?

Looks like the cork broke in two. I hate when that happens.

It was great with fresh walleye, linguine and alfredo.

    What's in your glass tonight?

More of my favourite Okanagan vineyard. Cherries, blackberry currants and mocha on the nose. Cherries, dark chocolate maybe a bit of leather on the palette. Not a timid wine. 14.5% ABV.

I can't buy it in Canada. Darn it.

    synthetic corks

So I've been using these for a couple of years now, and had no leaks or stuck corks. Notice it looks a lot like the 7 deadly zins closure.

    RJ Spagnols Hydrometer in Wine

The home I have lived in for 38 years is connected to the municipal water system by a lead pipe. We have been drinking the water for that long, and have not noticed any ill effects, so as long as you don't actually ingest the lead pellets, I think you'll be fine.

    Other trusting fermenter volumes

I have been wondering why so many people are having issues with volume, and I think it is because some corporate history has gone missing in the wine kit industry. Years ago, when I actually read the instructions, almost every kit (and none now) started with the following : "Fill your carboy to...

WineXpert Degassing wine questions! Please help

The puff test is not a reliable indicator of CO2. If you do it just right (ie wrong) you can make tap water have a puff. Better test is take a sample of your wine and put some on your tongue. Leave it there for a few seconds. If there is CO2, you will feel it. If you feel nothing, the wine is...
