    White wine turned pink

I did find something that *may* be helpful: http://www.wineland.co.za/reduce-pinking-potential-white-wines/. They mention that Viognier is one of the varietals susceptible to "pinking". but it's odd since you purged the bottles before filling.

    Hock bottles

I had no idea they were in Kent! That's only three hours from where I'm at. Might be worth the gas to check it out!

A website called packagingoptionsdirect.com. I almost forgot about that website! Thanks for that!

    Hock bottles

I'm about to bottle my Riesling, so I went to the two wineries near me but they only use standard Bordeaux bottles, so I've been forced to go to the internet. During my search, I've been noticing that hock bottles are quite a bit more than your standard Bordeaux and Burgundy's (~$30-$35...

What are the worse descriptors someone else used to describe your wine?

One of my friends told me that my Sangio/Merlot blend smells like his grandpa's old leather jacket. Although it wasn't 'the worst', I'd probably say it's the most specific one lol.

    Advice on converting my closet

Thanks all for the advice! I plan on getting a below counter fridge and building shelving above it to use as a work space. At first, I was "concerned" since the fridge would be on the floor, I'd have to lift it, but then I told myself "Just invest in the AIO and you won't have to worry about...

    Chile - Spring 2018 - Malbec - Petit Verdot - Syrah

Sounds like this will be an interesting blend! I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this thread :) Pardon my stupidity, but where did you end up ordering the juice pails from?

    RJ Spagnols Riesling Tweak Suggestions

That's good to know! I'm bottling my batch in about two weeks (been bulk aging for four months) and as of right now, it's got a pretty heavy kit taste.

    Advice on converting my closet

More of a work space than anything else. Our pantry is the perfect size for storing wine bottles, though.

    Advice on converting my closet

I don't, unfortunately. I'm thinking the refrigerator might be the only option. Thanks so much for the replies! I'll update everyone along the way! :)

    Advice on converting my closet

Unfortunately, no :( The only exterior wall is on the other side of the room, but there's a fence on the other side which wouldn't allow me to put an AC unit in.

    Advice on converting my closet

I just moved into a new house, and unfortunately the shed I planned on putting everything in doesn't have electrical connections and is unbearably hot, so my only option is this "closet" space. It's 6' wide and 2' deep. I was thinking about building a shelving unit to get the carboys off the...

    What's Your Winemaking Story?

A few years ago, I was jobless and came across a Craigslist job posting for a 'wine educator'. I decided to apply, and got the job! I worked in the tasting room for a few months, and during crush time, I'd help the winemaker. The more and more we talked, the more and more I got interested in...

What’s your 5 yr winemaking plan??

Right now, I only have one kit going. Now that I'm moving somewhere that actually has a very large shed with workspace, I plan on ramping it up a bit. Maybe a year or two down the road I'll plant a few vines and source some grapes to start from scratch, but we'll see where things take me :)

Lesson learned. Time to invest in an AIO.

Halfway through racking last night, the racking cane got clogged up and the more I pumped, more of the sediment would go through (and eventually clog). The hose kept coming out of the receiving carboy, too. Needless to say, I lost about a half gallon of wine to this hilarious failure, and...
