Smell is coming from the wine, I am not speaking of the smell of the cork or smelling of the cork. And, unfortunately, it tastes bad too but I will try decanting it to see if that improves it and report back for information's sake. Sad thing is, I had a partial bottle at the end of bottling day...

@CDrew, @WineMaker, Where do you purchase these from? I see some on Amazon but I noticed some reviews show that these are being counterfeited, one guy even cut the corks in half to show the differences. I went to the Nomacorc website, asked for some samples but haven't requested an order yet...

There are some interesting articles on thermal (energy) storage using molten salt, I just heard they're converting an old coal mine for this purpose. This is an example of the tech, heard the coal mine thing on "all things considered" on my local NPR station yesterday...

Don't stress, wine making is supposed to be chill, it's a procrastinator's hobby, take your time. That's all I really know about wine making at this time.

@mainshipfred, are you fermenting in a cooler to keep the temperature lower? If so, what temp range are you trying to maintain? Thanks!

All destoned now, filled up roughly nine, one-gallon ziplock bags with peaches! I bet there is 7.5 to 8 gallons of volume there :D They're in the freezer now, once I complete the exterior painting project I will start the batch.
