So you insist on drinking your kit wine early . . .

I have a theory that the kits without skins tend to be ready sooner because the tannins starts to polymerize, flavours start to age together before we even start fermenting while it’s in the bladder. The minute we add skins, it’s a whole different ball game hour which takes at least a year to...

    New Winexpert Kits

It’s too early to tell without trying the new lineup. The cellar craft showcase kits blew me away after 1 to 1.5 years of aging, we lost some volume in these new kits however without the manufacturer dropping the price its hard to assume that they are catering to the masses which is what the new...

    New Winexpert Kits

Highly doubt it, A little birdy spilled the beans and the price points are going to be the same. VineCo did the same thing. VineCo... They are dropping many of the original grapes/kits, and replacing them with others. Some will get replaced others won’t. It’s effectively reducing many of the...

    Carboy Bung Removal Tool

I have the same issue, when I stop by value village I see a couple Carboys for $10 each I snag them so they are mixed. I did that a few times and now I have 13 with 12 filled, lol. Also The wine kit store in an attempt to up sell me, gave me a used carboy for free because I told them I can’t buy...

    Carboy Bung Removal Tool

Yes I’ve done that...as well as removing a wine cork with my shoe lol, the issue is getting it out of the neck not that its fallen inside the carboy. Ill keep that in mind next time i order one, the 6.5 size actually fits perfectly in the neck, its more secure and is very unlikely to have a...

    RJ Spagnols RJS Cru International

I’ve made the BC okanagon meritage, French rose & Red Zinfandel...they were all quite good for what they were, especially for the price.

    Racking schedule without clearing agents

So In other words...no need to mix sulfite addition? Dissolving in some wine adding back to the top is good enough?

    Juice buckets vs Concentrate

No problem, I'm glad I found them aswell since vineco has dropped many of my favorites from the CC showcase line.

    Racking schedule without clearing agents

I don’t like the solid bungs, I’m paranoid they will pop off. Even though temps are pretty much stable in my basement. Silicone is also about the most O2 Permeable rubber like substance there is, i suspect still less than a water air lock though. I’m only bulk aging 9-12 months before bottling...

    Juice buckets vs Concentrate

Absolutely, you will need to check out the locations as the franchises typically have more information on their website. Word of caution, their lineup is very confusing, if you can go down to a location they would be able to explain it better. I’m lucky enough to live 15 minutes away from one in...

    Racking schedule without clearing agents

So the when the forza was sitting for 6-8 months, did it have any sulfites left at the end? Right now I’m paranoid about mixing my carboy when I added a bit of sulfite without racking. It’s been about 4-5 months since my last rack and sulfite addition I suspect it’s low...it’s coming up on a...

    Carboy Bung Removal Tool

Bah they screwed me, they shipped #6.5, I could have sworn I ordered 7.5. they work anyways and have just enough to remove a little easier. I'll probably just order more next time I need SO2 indicator in 6 months.

    Juice buckets vs Concentrate

I bought them from vintners Cellar. They are not are technically a true juice bucket since these are still pasteurized, however they do sell true juice buckets that are frozen, but it's seasonal. Once I get my acid meter and PH chems I might try a frozen bucket just to see.

    cellar craft discontinued?

Alright I got some more information, pretty much all the 14L premium kits all have skins, I'm not sure if the skins are what make up part of that 14L volume though as is the case for the current showcase lineup. There are some of the previous showcase kits that appear to be carried over into the...

    cellar craft discontinued?

I would assume they are not making enough money, sounds like they found a way to reduce production cost's. The kits do say 6-8 weeks for the ultra premium ones...maybe there is a 6-8 week range because some of the kits have skins.

    cellar craft discontinued?

They don’t but the information is very limited. I agree with what you are saying.

    cellar craft discontinued?

From a marketing perspective it makes sense to amalgamate everything. I’m thinking best case scenario they haven’t dropped any grapes and are still making kits from the same sources. If there are no skins though that’s a deal breaker I think. Supposedly they have a new process that uses less...

    cellar craft discontinued?

That Appears to be the case, these new 14L so called premium Kits don’t mention skins but I suspect they are 12L with 2l of skins if any skins at all. I think this is Bull. They will lose alot of customers if this is the case, I can’t seem to find a reliable source of what wines are offered in...

    cellar craft discontinued?

I don't know but I'm pretty upset about it...also wine expert is owned by the same company that owns vineco. How can 14L be premium? They are just trying to bring a cheaper product to the masses and cheapening their name in the meantime. Oh well...guess I should switch to RJS. It just pissed me...
