    Chilean juice pail tweaks

I did 3 or 4 juice buckets twice a year for about 5 years. This is close to 30 or 40 juice buckets. I finally gave up on them as not one had any flavor or character in it. People even seemed to prefer the wine I made from cheap wine kits. The only juice bucket that seemed to have any kind of...

Yea he was confused big time. I'm not talking about the filter being blocked. The wine was 7 months old and was clear. What I meant was there was a solid stream of wine going into the filter, and bubbles+wine going thru the outlet. This meant the wine was getting heavily aerated and would have...

No sweat sorry if i came off too strong. Basically there was nothing but bubbles on the filtered side. I Teflon taped the hose barbs, no effect. I got brass fittings, still leaked. Tried pipe dope, still leaked. So I examined the big o-ring, it looked fine. Tried other hoses, still nothing but...

    REVIEW: *allinonewinepump*

I've used mine so much parts on it are starting to wear out lol. The better bottle platic carboy kit actually worked so well I got rid of most of my glass bottles. However everything isn't roses, namely the filtering attachment. I couldn't get that to stop sucking air no matter what i did, sadly...

    Chilean juice pail tweaks

I have an email from the Mosti-Montinale folks, you are right it took me almost a year to actually order the grape pack. their website was so horrible! Finally about a year later I got an email out of the blue from then saying they fixed all the problems. So I ordered one and got it fast. BTW...

    2nd Annual M.A.N.E. Event

Just found this Fred, I guess I was confused lol. I looked up Split Rock and they didn't say anything about a two night minimum. So I looked on here to see if there was anything besides the barrel thread and lo and behold there was this thread. So how many room do you have commitments from? We...

I just mentioned Weak Knee because its south of here in the Pottstown area and I know the direction you are coming from. Like I mentioned they are a GREAT bunch of guys there. I'm ordering 7 lugs of Carmenere to go in my 25 liter barrel.

PA/NJ wineries get some love in Cali

I live in Pa wine country (just north of Allentown). The wine around here was "meh" for alot of years but some local wineries their 2006 vintage is the best I've tasted anywhere. They are really coming into their own.

Sorry missed this message Fred, Yes it appears Procacci does not do spring grapes bummer. I know Keystone does Chilean and South African grapes and Weak Knee Homebrew in Pottstown does also (I love that place, great bunch of people there). BTW my 2017 Chilean Pinot Noir is really shaping up to...

What are your plans for the spring harvest?

Keystone's other location in Mongomeryville is still open and if you coming from DC its actually closer.

Well when it gets closer to April/May I'd love to see where everyone is getting their grapes.I want the best quality I can get. I'm really thinking of trying Procacci once, there is an LHBS up by where I grew up called Catinos and on Saturday mornings its a bunch of older Italian guys sitting...

    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

Joe my last cheap kit is about 4 months old and it tastes great. About to do a new one with a total "outside the box" method. Basically cheap 6 gallon Cabernet kit (Wild Grapes), I'm going to add 5 lbs of Blackberries, a Mosti-Mondiale-All-Grape-Pack skin pack (these are what you get when you do...

What are your plans for the spring harvest?

UGH just made a post in the general chit-chat forum. Keystone's Bethlehem location is closing meaning I have to make the long trip to Montgomeryville when I need grapes.

What are your plans for the spring harvest?

I'm only gonna do dressed-up cheap kits and grapes that I can put in a barrel from now on. Tired of these horrible, flavorless juice buckets. Did 5 top quality kits last year and wasn't impressed by any of them so far. I'd love to try Carmenere this spring so I may try to get the best quality...

    New Barrels for Forum Members

Again the drawback of a Flextank is the lack of evaporation compared to a barrel. As a home winemaker its tough to get top quality grapes so evaporation concentrates the flavor and helps the home winemaker. Flextanks are mainly for the convenience not quality over a barrel. Great for big time...
