Nah, not wine that night. It was straight beer drinking, breath stinking, sniffing glue. ....who am I referencing? :D

I was just reading back through this thread and I noticed an error. I said Viognier and Chardonnay blend, but that isn't correct. It was a Viognier / Chenin Blanc blend.

    UPS busted the bottles?

The best bet is to save shipping containers when you buy wine online. I bought a four pack of 3-bottle shippers from ULine. Cough, the price of the containers and after shipping them to me, it was $50+ for them!

    Falcon Heavy

This is the current nor'easter slamming the east coast from NASA's GOES16 satellite.

@GregND You look like you have plenty of room for an observatory and I bet you have pretty dark skies out there. No trees to block your view!

Nice pic Jim! As an astrophotographer, I will say this. Most people tend to take pictures of full moons, but in truth. When the moon is in other phases, that is when the best pictures come out. The reason being is you get the moons terminator (shadow line) in the middle of the moon which...

I have to credit @Boatboy24 (Jim) with the idea of making a Viognier. I heard him mention his Viognier batch and I had never tried Viognier before. So I went to my local wine shop and they only had two and only one wasn't a blend $12 bottle. I brought it home and was extremely happy with it...

I started it in March of 2017, so it's just shy of a year old. It's tasting pretty good, but I know it has much better with at least another year. Originally it was very fruit-forward with pear flavors. The pear is still there, but much more mellow with more warm earthy type flavors coming...

Thanks! I couldn't locate Viognier grapes or a juice bucket at the time, but I really wanted to start one. I went with the RJ Spagnols En Primeur Winery Series Italian Viognier Winemaking Kit. The interesting thing about the '73 on the label is. That is the name of the wine, and it was named...

    Falcon Heavy

I heard that NASA putting the Nuclear Thermal Propulsion engine back on the table. This is fantastic as it's a sign they are extremely serious about a manned mission to Mars. This type of engine would pretty much be required to keep a margin of safety for the astronauts. These engines...

The only one I can think of it probably knitting. Though to be honest. I could be wrong there too! The one thing I know is I have a lot of hobbies, and every single one of them are expensive as hell! (building / repairing electronics, playing guitar, making wine, amateur radio, astronomy...

I currently live in an apartment since I sold my house. While I'm looking for the next house. I have issues with my other hobby. (ham radio) In an apartment, I cannot exactly put up a large antenna to support the hobby. I have a buddy who has a massive 130' antenna tower in his back...

Mid Atlantic North East Meet Up

That's possible. I host a monthly wine tasting event every 3rd Sunday. We had our meeting last night and I actually ask them if they were interested in possibly attending this wine festival also. The group has another winemaker in it also, though he makes mostly fruit wines from trees his...
