    Walkers is now open

Dan, I had some of your port you made with that blend. That is the reason I bought it. It was excellent! Thanks for the tip, i will be trying that. Did you put oak in yours? I'm thinking that port should be heavily oaked.

    Other Anyone try these?

I have used several Paklab kits and with a few tweaks they can make a decent wine. That being said, i probably will not make them again. They are great for beginners, great learning experiences.

    Walkers is now open

I had a nice day today going to Walkers and picking up juice. I bought Concord, Catawba, Isabella-Blackberry, Port Blend and Red Plum. I think i'm done for this year. I am nearing the dreaded 200 gallon limit and I might want to brew a beer for the coming holidays.

    Walkers is now open

I've never tried it. I usually don't like white wines but I will sample it when i'm there. I might have to try it.

    Walkers is now open

Walkers wine juice is now open for the season. I think i will head up there Saturday and pick up a couple buckets of their Isabella-Blackberry. I bought some of it last year and it is great! I might pick up some of the Port Blend too. I am down to 8 empty carboys so I cannot go too crazy!

    WineXpert Kit mixup

I personally would not use either one of them. With time, both kits will clear on their own. If you decide to use them, either one would work on either kit.

    What R you doing today?

I took my wife out for an early birthday lunch at Luva Bella's and picked up 11 buckets of juice while we were there. I managed to get all of the buckets down into the basement but it gets harder to do every time I have to do it. I'm either going to have to rig up a transfer pump or move the...

    California Grapes

Thanks everyone for your advice and encouragement but I have decided to wait for another year to do all grapes. It is simply that I do not have the time. I did order 11 buckets of juice and I will be picking them up Saturday at Luva Bella. I ordered Petite Syrah, Zinfandel, Merlot, Shiraz and...

    What R you doing today?

Today I finally decided to do something with the three gallons of Orange Blossom Honey I brought back from Florida a couple of years ago. I started a 12 gallon batch of Mead. The honey had partially crystallized but easily dissolved in hot water. I added some acid, tannin and nutrients now just...

    elderberry blend question

zack67360, elderberry wine is safe to drink and in fact is very healthy for you. The cyanide is minimal and is less than the amount found in apple seeds. if it were not for the dreaded green goo, elderberry would probably be considered one of the best red wines.

    Mystery grape?

That does not look like any grape I've ever seen! White flesh? Do you have any pictures of a whole one and the leaf?

    What R you doing today?

I labeled 20 cases of Carmenere, 20 cases Malbec, 10 cases of Blueberry. I still have nearly 50 cases to go but have run out of labels. I am trying to get everything in order so that I can start some California wines in a couple of weeks.

    Wine too Zesty

You are going to have to sweeten that one. I made wine from Calamondins which should be similar. Undrinkable dry, quite nice slightly sweetened.

The "Weirdest" wineries you've come across!

I don't think South Shore winery qualifies as "Weird" more like unique and beautiful. It is the oldest one in Pennsylvania. it is a beautiful stone cave but seems a bit empty.

    California Grapes

Dan, will you have California grapes?

    California Grapes

I think i'm convinced. I think I will buy 5 lugs of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Now to clean up the crusher! One question, how much kmeta should I use at crush? I am also going to buy my usual 10 to 12 buckets of juice. I will have something to compare the wine made from grapes with.
