    WineXpert BOGO Wine kit sale

Had my eye on this kit a few times. Do you make per the instructions or do you tweak it? I see where some people add apple cider after fermentation to give it more body and flavor. Do you bottle it in wine bottles or beer bottles? Do you carbonate it? Thanks!

    A few questions!

I use Spiral French Oak Medium Plus Toast in mine for bulk aging. In fact that's what I use in all my reds.

    Cellar Craft CC Showcase Amarone

fyi, I made this kit many times over the last 6 years or so. It's by far one of my fave kit wines. It really starts to hit its stride after about 2 years in the bottle. Saluti!

Here's a pic of it this morning before stirring. Day 3 in fermenter. It has a beautiful, thick cap.

I add table sugar right into the primary. I bumped the SG up to 1.100. That should be sufficient once you figure in the sugar that's in the grape pack.

I started this kit 2 days ago and had the same reading. I ended up adding some sugar to bump up the SG.

    Experimenting with oak

I'm not quite sure what you are asking?Oak powder is usually added to the primary to increase tannins.

You're fine leaving it. Extra time clearing will not hurt it. There's been times I let mine clear/sit for 3-6 months before bottling.

    Experimenting with oak

I add oak spirals to all of my red wine. I usually add 1-2, medium plus toast, French Oak spirals when bulk aging.

Not necessarily, I push the limits on SG in all my batches and they normally ferment dry in 5 days.

Yes this step is all done on the same day. Let clear for a week, then back-sweeten.

I gave up on sparkloid long ago. Hit it with a dose of Dualfine. It should clear in a matter of days.

There's no need to add k-meta to the primary if using frozen fruit. The wild yeast will be killed off when the fruit is flash frozen. Fresh fruit, that's a different story.

Any cheap, white zinfandel works well.

    Temperature

I use a cheap aquarium heater in the primary to keep it at a constant temp. .
