    Mosti Mondiale HELP!!! Alljuice Concern

Crap! I hope everything thing will be ok. I was not able to Rack yesterday. I'll rack as soon as I get home to night. I've been stirring it everyday really well...until there are some bubbles on top of the must. And the fermentation seems to still be going strong. I'll update everyone on what...

Quick update: Checked the SG again last night and it was at 1.042. Still waiting to rack until it is down to 1.010.

    Mosti Mondiale HELP!!! Alljuice Concern

Cool. Did you add extra sulfite during the aging? If so, how much? The instructions mention to add some, but don't say how much. I was thinking 6 campden tablets (1 per gallon)...does that sound right? Also, would that be enough for the entire 4 months of aging? By the way, thanks for taking...

    Mosti Mondiale HELP!!! Alljuice Concern

Appleman, you've convinced me. I'm going to wait until the SG is down to 1.010 before I rack. When did you start yours? How did it turn out? How long did you bulk age? How long from pitching in the yeast to ready to drink? I'm planning on bulk aging it at least the recommended 4 months. I'm...

    Grape Vines in Planters?

Has anyone successfully grow Vines in large planting pots? I've heard its been done before, but wanted to know if anyone has done it or seen examples on the net. The ground were we leave is not the best. Plus I would like to take them with us if we ever move. Just wondering. Matt

    Mosti Mondiale HELP!!! Alljuice Concern

I was planing on filling a gallon jug about 2/3rds full (with 3 grams of oak in the gallon jug), then putting the rest into the carboy. Or should I fill the Carboy to the sholder first, then put the rest in the gallon jug? I double checked the instructions last night, because I saw others here...

    Mosti Mondiale HELP!!! Alljuice Concern

Looks like I'll be racking the Pinot in to the 2nd tonight. I took the SG when I was stirring it this morning. It was right at 1.050. I'll take another reading this evening, just to make sure it is between 1.040 and 1.050. I also tasted it this morning. Tastes like fermenting wine, but it has a...

    Mosti Mondiale HELP!!! Alljuice Concern

Update: First. I was looking over some older post I found that I was looking at my bucket size wrong. The bucket I have is 6.5 Imp. Gallons. I saw in a post that there are 1.2 Gallons is an Imp. Gallon. So the bucket I have IS a 7.9 Gallon bucket. Second. I've checked the wine a couple times...

    Mosti Mondiale HELP!!! Alljuice Concern

Thanks appleman! I figured all was okay, but wanted some reassurance. It is the Original AllJuice Pinot Nior. I'm really excited about this kit. My wife got it for me for my birthday. I'll try to update this post as things go along.

    Mosti Mondiale HELP!!! Alljuice Concern

I started my first MM Alljuice kit on Friday. Everything went normally that evening, but when I went to stir it the next morning, there was over an inch of foam on the top of the must. I've seen this before when I've made wine from real grapes, so it really didn't concern me too much. I'm using...

    oxyclean

Has anyone used oxyclean to clean their equipment? If so, how much do you use? I think I saw someone say the put a scoop in the carboy, then fill it with water and let it sit over night. Does that work? Thanks! Matt

Clearing, stabilizing, and bottling fruit wine?

I've started a Strawberry wine from a recipe I have from a book. In that book they recommend racking into a secondary, then letting it sit for 2-6 months. Then racking again and letting it sit for another 2-6 months. I think they have you wait that long, because they do not seem to call for...

    Vinbrite Filter

Could you also spray some inert gas into the clean carboy first? To help minimize the introduction of too much oxygen...

    Cheap 5 minute Carboy Cover

uavwmn, You want to cover the carboys to keep the light out. I've been told light will steal the color from your wine. Make it paler. I don't know if the light does anything else to the wine.

    Cheap 5 minute Carboy Cover

I use brown paper bags. The one you get from the store when you are checking out and you ask for paper (not plastic). For 5 and 6 gallon carboys, I just cut two slits in the bottom of the bag (a large plus sign). Just big enough for the air lock to fit through. Then I slide the bag over the...

    Vinbrite Filter

Anyone use a Vinbrite Filter? I would like to start filtering my wines, but do not know if I want to spend $200 on a filter right now. If you use (or have used) a Vinbrite Filter, can you tell me what you like/dislike about them? Thank you! Matt
