    Post a photo, any photo

I bought this kit from a retailer in FL who shault NOT be named back Aug 2019, which is a long time. I really did not expect anything since it has been so long. But. "Unfortunately, our distributors only have a 7-10 day time frame for issues such as these." 7 - 10 days seems very small time...

    The Bread Thread

We have tried to cook pizza on the green egg and failed miserably. 1) gooey mess in the grill 2) burned and no good. With summer around the corner might try it again. But our go to recipe is below...

Corona Virus & Day to Day

239 Experts With One Big Claim: The Coronavirus Is Airborne The W.H.O. has resisted mounting evidence that viral particles floating indoors are infectious, some scientists say. The agency maintains the research is still inconclusive....... But in an open letter to the W.H.O., 239 scientists in...

How long do you typically age white wine kits?

Tasting every 3 months starting at 6 month mark sounds like a good plan. Education, curiosity and of course finding when a wine is drinkable.

Corona Virus & Day to Day

FDA advises consumers not to use hand sanitizer products manufactured by Eskbiochem due to the potential presence of methanol (wood alcohol), a substance that can be toxic when absorbed through the skin or ingested. All-Clean Hand Sanitizer (NDC: 74589-002-01) Esk Biochem Hand Sanitizer (NDC...

How long do you typically age white wine kits?

It sounds like many don't worry too much about aging for white wine kit. 6 month rule. I was searching on this forum and there was a tread to another white wine kit that was split in two. 1 with extra oak in carboy and 1 without oak. The one with oak took much longer to be drinkable than...

How long do you typically age white wine kits?

I think my description might have been off because I don't believe it is residual gas. Perhaps harness is a better description. I did not add additional acid but I did add Joe's fpac of grapes with <1/2 grapefruit zest in primary. The last PH I took was 3.26 but this was just before...

How long do you typically age white wine kits?

I've read on this forum that you should wait at least 6 months till drinking a white wine kit, but I wonder how long do people who have been doing this a long time typically wait? I have an RJS RQ Chardonnay kit that is 8 months old and it is drinkable but not what I hope for. No off flavors...

    Growing yeast

I would agree with TonyP but perhaps you are trying to find bread yeast at the stores. If so, then the tread below can help you with growing sourdough yeast https://slice.seriouseats.com/2010/11/how-to-make-sourdough-starter-day-0.html

Corona Virus & Day to Day

Krafty, I am sorry about your daughter and family. I think a firing is not enough for people who know that they have COVID-19 and do not pass on that information to others that they are potentially infecting. For HIV there were reckless endangerment and attempted murder laws to people who...

Corona Virus & Day to Day

It was on my linked in account and assumed it was ok since my contacts are all from the medical device and pharm industry. I did not see it there now and saw this article. My apologies...

WineXpert pH and TA looking odd

I never made this kit and fairly new to winemaking but according to the following article, the PH and TA are in range for that variety of grape https://www.smartwinemaking.com/post/optimal-sugar-and-acid-levels-for-popular-wine-grape-varieties

Corona Virus & Day to Day

I really question the 6' feet rule of thumb. I was walking outside to our mailbox yesterday and our neighbor's are having some construction done (ok in phase 1 in WA). The worker was smoking a cigarette and I was smelling the smoke and I was at least 12' away. Wonder what else I could be...

Corona Virus & Day to Day

I also visited a curb side big box hardware store yesterday. I witness the same event. No masks and lots of people with no limits buying non essential stuff. After 25 minutes of waiting for curbside and trying to call to get a status with no avail, we bailed. Just wasn't worth it.

    What's in your glass tonight?

I thought I was buying ready made margarita, but turned out to be blue weber agave wine. It is like a very dry margarita. Yum. I definite do over. Wish there was a kit for next year but..... https://drizly.com/liquor/ready-to-drink/margarita-ready-to-drink/rancho-la-gloria-margarita/p55228
