My local store offers barrels but they are charred instead of toasted. Would it be best to order online and not get a charred barrel?

Just placed my official order for fresh juice

Wife limited me to 2 buckets of juice. I picked merlot and syrah as we are low on both of those. I'm using d254 yeast for both and ch16 for the mlf. I intend to add an all grape pack to each during fermentation since this is just juice. Is it worth it? Also I'm intending to add 1-2 ounces of...

    Picking juices & MLF

This is my first year using juice so I'm in the same boat. Mlf seems like a challenge but from what I've read it is basically required for reds that aren't kits. As far as strains I've no clue but figured I'd bump the thread for help.

    Oak barrel suppliers

What are legit sites to buy oak barrels in the 5 to 8 gallon range? 5 gallon range is ideal for my current needs. I'd prefer french oak if it isn't too much more.

    Weber Performer grill....

My wife eats a lot of veggies, a very good thing and I need to do better myself, so that's why I got the craycort grates.

    Weber Performer grill....

https://www.cast-iron-grate.com Here is another one. They have their strengths but do take some time to get seasoned just like regular cast iron cookware, meaning they aren't for everyone basically. Vortex allows you to focus high heat in a specific spot allowing you to give the sear marks...

Cellar Craft Riesling Icewine from Cellar Craft

We opened the second bottle last night its about 4 months into the bottle and it is very good overall. This wine is getting better with age and anyone that likes an icewine at times I'd strongly consider this Kit. The RJS Vidal is next on my list for next year but I'd strongly consider this...

WineXpert Question about LE Australia Grenache and Cab with Grape Skin

Just racked mine and the color so far is good but it has a lot of clearing to do so we shall see. I haven't tried to taste it yet I intend to do that next week after it clears more.

    Hello from Anderson Texas!

I'm jealous. I'd love a vineyard but I can at least make wine so it isn't too bad I guess.

Barrel empty for 3 months, best way?

I will starting this fall but still after that I worry about the storage.

Barrel empty for 3 months, best way?

That's me as well. The wife gave the all clear for a barrel but I'm just not sure if it would benefit me more than maintaining it during the down time.

    Hello from NW Indiana

I think that's far south near where my wife went to college. I'm basically near chicago just across the border really. Cold but a very nice area overall. Hope they had a sage trip.

    Advice for a beginner

I think I'll do the sangiovese and I can blend it with the merlot for a few bottles at the end.

    Advice for a beginner

I was thinking of keeping some out to back sweeten. Would you just use wine conditioner and water? I'm curious as to why the use of water is all.
