    Trouble with kit

I don't think any post here indicated failure. Finish the process according to kit instructions and you should have the finished product intended by the kit maker. The slight difference between a hydrometer reading of 1.000 and 0.996 will not make a significant difference in the final product...

    Trouble with kit

I have made this kit many times but always tweak it by adding at start one pack of grape juice concentrate (cost about $15) and about 4# table sugar to raise SG to bring alcohol to 11-12% then follow kit instructions to completion. All of my sweet wine lovers love the finished product! I agree...

What are you making and what have you made ???

New to posting so forgive me if I mess this up. Hopefully this posts to what are you making, what have you made. I like to make wine from juices from Chile, California and Great Lake Region. Usually reds like Carmenaire, Old Vine Zin and Malbec. Also make Black Raspberry from fruit picked from...

    Black Raspberry / Malbec Experiment

Good comment on the sugar. I will wait to add sugar until I check SG after adding the kit. Glad I posted here. Thank you! Not sure about the acid blend though. I thought it would be needed due to using the berries.

    Black Raspberry / Malbec Experiment

I have a recipe that turns out excellent 6 gallon batches of black raspberry wine from berries picked from my own vines after aging for 2-3 years (if it lasts that long). Another family favorite is Malbec made from Chilean 6 gallon buckets of juice. Recently I obtained a Wine Expert Selection...

    What's Your Winemaking Story?

Black Raspberry Wine About 7 years ago our visiting friend sitting poolside suggested that the black raspberries growing behind the pool would make a fine wine. Seems he had been raised in a wine making family and had been making his own wine for years. I picked about 30 pounds of raspberries...

Recipe needed for 60 pounds of concord grapes

Concord grape wine I agree 100% with carcoco. Wine from grapes should not need water. But... has anyone made Concord grape wine that was worth drinking? I have not and won't waste my time anymore. Maybe could make a blend with it but don't have any wine I would waste blending with it. Free...

    Pouring instead of siphon

Pour or siphon? I have never had a problem topping off by pouring but if you are concerned, find a small plastic funnel and some 1/4 or 3/8 inch tubing and push it in the bottom of the funnel. Tubing should be long enough to reach the level of the wine in your jug or carboy. Just pour into...
