    Yeast suggestions

Wife wanted a Blackberry and a Black Cherry for the holidays. So, I purchased Winexpert Island Mist in both flavors. I already know without opening the yeast is probably EC 1118 I would like to change it up a bit and swap out the yeast to start. I’ll also be bumping the ABV up slightly with corn...

    Winexpert Old Vine Zin ?

I know all about secondary fermentation but the Winexpert instructions states primary 14 days or until .996 or lower. Then, stabilize/degas, next day, day 15 clearing, day 30 done. Unless I’m reading wrong there is no secondary fermentation anymore with the Winexpert kits

    Winexpert Old Vine Zin ?

Ok, started this kit on the March 23rd 16 days ago. Checked sg this morning and is at .996 which is good but still showing signs of fermentation, bubbles on surface of wine and some slow action in the airlock. Should I just let it ride or proceed to the next step? I’m thinking let it ride.

    WineXpert Wine Expert California Moscato

Ok, just finished this kit for the wife the other day and had her taste it, she love it but wanted it a little sweeter. I had about a cup and a half of the f pack left in the fridge and added it to the carboy and as I expected it clouded up. It’s been 2 days and still cloudy should I just let...

    WineXpert California Zinfandel

I have 3 kits going right now. All fermenting at different speeds. The 14 days in the instructions is a round about time frame. Trust your hydrometer and go by that.

Wine in 1st transfer carboy untouched for 8 months

I’m really surprised the airlocks didn’t go dry that long. I have to add water every 2-3 months
  12. cooknhogz

Wine has been sitting for almost 60hrs no activity on Airlock??

Also, if activity seems slow during the primary fermentation I take the top off once or twice a day and stir the wine to add oxygen and probably wouldn’t hurt to add some yeast Nutrients either

George, thanks for the reply and hope your Riesling turns out well. I went ahead and ordered this kit yesterday. Hopefully it gets here by the end of the week for I’m starting a Winexpert Moscato I already have for the wife on Friday. Have a good day.

Boatboy24, how is the Riesling coming along? I’m a huge Riesling fan and was thinking about ordering this kit soon. Being still winter it be a perfect time to start this kit.

WineXpert Winexpert Eclipse Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel

I’m not a huge reds fan but do prefer a Old Vine Zin when I do drink one. Think I’m going to have to give this kit a try. Thanks

    Wine won’t clear now

Just an update, the super clear worked, we bottled, and plan on aging for a couple months. Being a cheaper kit I not worried if it’s all drank by the end of summer. Thank you all for all the input.

    Winexpert Eclipse Riesling

Running low on our usual riesling and want to try something new. Thinking about Winexpert Eclipse Riesling kit and looking for some reviews from anyone who has made it. This is supposed to be a premium kit, I believe, and for around $6 a bottle in the end doesn’t seem like a bad deal.

    Zork Availability

For all the extra money you spend on Zorks, you could buy a nice floor corker. I love mine and wouldn’t be without. Makes corking bottles super fast and super easy.
