    Vintners Harvest Blood Orange

Well, I got a can of this awhile back and I'll likely be using it for December's WOTM club. Can anyone tell me how well it will work for a 3 gallon batch?

    Are these ok for mead?

    Yes, thank you.

    Are these ok for mead?

I've fallen in love with these bottles. Now I know that not all corks were created equal, but I don't know how or why or what I should be looking for if I'm going to be using cork not specifically made for wine. I'm wondering if you guys think these corks would be ok for wines/meads under...

    Mustang Grape Pyment

I added one packet of 71B yesterday morning. I really expected to see signs of fermentation this morning when I got up, but it appears all the yeast has sunk down to the very bottom. Hopefully something is going by the time I get home from work this afternoon.

    Cherry Wine Base

I think the wording is something along the lines of 5 gallons for a lighter wine, 3 gallons for a full bodied wine.

    Cherry Wine Base

I've used several of those (though not cherry) and would recommend that you just make the 3 gallon version for a more full bodied wine. For tweaks, how about a 1/2 tsp of mahlab (seriously, if you use it go easy. A little goes a long way but it is sooo good), and 3 T of oak powder in primary...

    Mustang Grape Pyment

This summer I was able to find mustang grapes at my local fruit stand. I ended up buying @ 20 lbs of them. I froze them for about a month then ran them through my steam juicer. They yielded two gallons of juice. The color was very, very dark when I put them into the freezer, but by the time...

    White brute trash can

I went out last night and got the container from TS. Now I've just got to narrow down the spigot. I really like the setup @Stickman has, but I'm having trouble finding one. Also, What kind of filter is that again? That would be ideal for what I'm wanting to do with it. I did find the...

what do you HATE the most about wine making?

Hands down, cleaning the bottles getting ready for bottling.

    White brute trash can

I knew you all would steer me in the right direction. Thanks for the advice and information. I'll mull it all over for a couple of weeks and then make a decision.

    White brute trash can

White Rubbermaid type brute 20 gallon cans with lids are sold at our local Tractor Supply as food storage bins. I've been eyeing them for awhile as a replacement for my trusty fermenting pail. I'm wanting to do larger batches and more batches of all fruit, so I definitely need something bigger...

    November 2016 WOTM Club

Ok, here it is racked and SG down below 1.00. I've added the last of my basil leaves, torn in half, and shoved down into the carboy.

    Sparkling Wine using Soda Stream!

@ibglowin We were looking at the Soda Stream Genesis, is that the correct one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ETUNPM2/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

    Sparkling Wine using Soda Stream!

I can't believe I missed this thread! I'm not wanting to really invest in a whole keg/carbonating setup, so a Soda Stream would work well for us. Do you guys think I could use this to carb meads and then bottle them in the 500ml flip top bottles?

    Persimmon wine tastes hot

I would leave it for a while before you start messing with it. If you just transferred it to secondary it needs a bit of time to finish out.

    November 2016 WOTM Club

I racked onto another 2 lbs of strawberries, added another pound of honey and a wee bit more water to account for racking losses. It's still bubbling away happily. I will likely take the last of the basil and add it in the next couple of days once fermentation slows down a bit. I'll leave...
