    starting cuttings

I did buy what I wanted, faster and I am sure they are alive when the real grape people like DoubleAA do it. ;) These were 'i'd try but not buy', at least until the ground and trellis are done for next year. And I got Norton and muscadines from Ison's, getting ready to put those in this spring...

Third time's the charm - Root Beer mead

So what is your final gravity? and not sparkling or carbonated, correct?

    starting cuttings

I am new to starting cuttings. I have two bud and three bud cuttings of Marechal Foch- how deep do I put them into soil mix? And does rooting hormone actually help, or is it the heat mat that does it? I have Brianna and Lorelai that endedup puting out root starts on their own, I was given them...

    2021, what are your plans?

I am probably going to skip spring again. I haven't bottled fall yet, maybe soon for the whites. Going to be really busy grafting apples and making an attempt at grapes, the currants are helping themselves. Some berries to come, I opted to buy those. No time or space for fermentation now. I have...

    blackberry/elderberry mix

Search for information about air layering or easiest is tip rooting or serpentine layering. This is all done during the growing season to get duplicate plants.

Caution About - Yeast orders - Big "A" online site - Seller NOT shipping what they Advertised

Mangrove Jack and Vintners Harvest seem to be the same yeasts. I thought VH was licensed for USA, MJ for Europe/Australia etc, based on my previous internetting, but found MJ for sale at Adventures in Homebrewing recently. Same strain names should be the same, I don't know exactly who grows...

Food Grade Plastic Liners For Fermentation

I have looked at using food-grade liners for buckets or drums that are not food-grade, or are of questionable origin. Then I could throw out liner when fermentation is done, or when too used for my preference. You could use such a drum liner for your stainless steel tank, but I don't know how to...

    post spacing for trellis

What spacing would I use for trellis posts? Metal posts, like sold at Orchard Valley Supply. This is probably where I'll get the line posts and crossarms, though I have found similar posts locally for end posts. I am not finding info here or googling, just vine spacing. I am sure I am just...

    Vintner's Harvest canned fruit

I usually do this with Cote des Blanc and KV1116 for apple or fruits. I have the others for trying an experiment, I hadn't expected to have to make wine this week. I opened the can this afternoon- turns out the blackcurrant is all juice, so I just froze it until Thursday when I have time. I...

    Vintner's Harvest canned fruit

Urrrgh! The UPS driver I have is awful. Stacked boxes on the driveway today instead of on the porch or at the door. The juicy wet box was at the bottom! Damaged the SINGLE can of Blackcurrant, dented all the others. Leaking stuck the packing peanuts to plastic bags. At least it was obvious he...

    Vintner's Harvest canned fruit

homebrewing.org Free shipping on orders over $55, and a current promo for 10% off orders over $55. Out of the blackberry now, though. Blackcurrant is only $25, and most Vintners Harvest / Mangrove Jack yeasts are on sale. My problem is having gone there needing only a cheap gasket....

    Vintner's Harvest canned fruit

This is what I was planning on, waiting for delivery. Too late for the blueberry but I have 5 gallons ready soon, so it won't make me sad.

    Vintner's Harvest canned fruit

No, not the gallon jug full of corn syrup. Although it might be fine as a type of easy-drinking summer 'wine', if anyone were wanting to pay that price for not actual fruit. It strikes me as the soda of wine.

    Vintner's Harvest canned fruit

Can anyone who uses Vintner's Harvest fruit cans tell me how much they really make? I am looking at I think 49 ounce (called puree) or 96 ounce cans (called 'fruit base') of blueberry, apricot, blackberry, black currant, elderberry, rhubarb, etc. Do you just use these as though you have 3/4/X...

    Liebfraumilch kit

Look at RJS kits, they do mention one. Or find a Reisling kit that can be done a bit sweeter. The MullerThurgau kits are gone, I think. Victim of shrinking kit types.

    Source for PVI-PVP Finings

Sorry about that! didn't read carefully enough. After looking this up I see the difference.

    Source for PVI-PVP Finings

PI Wine has it, smallest amount is 140grams. Thus is the kind that must be filtered, small particle size. They are the ace with the smallest amount when I was looking last year, in case I had to resort to it. I ended up not needing to, so didn’t look any further.

    Kit to Replicate Lambrusco Riunite?

What I ended up finding for sale is AllJuice Lamsbrusco, at $99 plus shipping. If you were to find Italian juice buckets locally in season, it might be more in line with costs you are looking for. Otherwise, why not enjoy Reunite for what it is, when you want sangria, and make what you want? I...
