How to become a winemaker extraordinaire

Thank you for this good article @heatherd - I got to the end of the first paragraph when I saw this ominous quote: “Patience and multitasking will be your greatest assets.” :slp

    What R you doing today?

Daughter graduated University last Sunday, last of the family members left today. Since then, I've been staring at all the empty spaces in the wine rack... Obviously time to get back to bottling.

You two did good by having them delivered. I went to Costco Friday afternoon, and they offered the same ones, but they had been pretty well picked over. "...It's not the gift, it's the thought" wouldn't have cut it!

Since I missed your first postings, welcome (back)! Make sure you check the dates on the kit - it is recommended that you start it within one year from the date on it but there are many stories of kits lasting much longer. Also, the yeast may need replacing - the date is stamped on the packet...

How can I turn down a request from a guy that will soon be opening his DR home to the group...? :pic Kit includes: EC-1118 and K1-V1116 Yeast, F-Pack, and all the usual stuff. Can't judge the "size of the F-Pack" but looks like ~16 oz or so.

Dragon Blood - Throwing in the towel (this time)

Mine’s in the clearing stage now but after 2 days it’s still cloudy throughout - I used LC-1118 and the suggestion to add more nutrient resulted in more fermentation activity with SG going from 1.020 to 0.994. I followed the instructions as noted above but if next weekend it is still cloudy...

    What R you doing today?

Thought this was vulgar the first time I heard it while working in Texas. While listening to some music in a club one night, this girl yells out between songs, “We want some Coon-Ass music!” Everyone else chimed in with, “Yeah! Coon-Ass music!” ...Only then did I understand.

Dang... Busted already - I've only been here for ~9 months! Belize is good, but while Costa Rica has a large number of Gringo ExPats, the red tape and crime is worse there than in the majority of other countries. Seems like a lot of folks are looking to retire where medical and cost of living...
