WineXpert Classic Chile Cabernet Sauvignon 8L

Also, to help maintain a Stable temperature, which as was noted may be more important ... I wrap the fermenter, and the Carboys, in a heavy fleece Sweater during the entire process. This also ensures that no direct sunlight gets to it. I bottled my second batch of Moscato yesterday, and today I...

WineXpert Classic Chile Cabernet Sauvignon 8L

I have completed my second batch of WinExpert Classic Chile Cabernet Sauvignon. Who can argue with the wisdom of learning how to make wine, sticking with it, and continuing to produce ... in these trying days? I have also a second batch of WinExpert California Moscato in process for nearly a...

WineXpert Classic Chile Cabernet Sauvignon 8L

Oh No! I forgot that the instructions say to keep the fermenter in an area where the temperature is between 68 and 77 F. Doh! In the wintertime, we don't even keep the house nor the garage that warm through the night. But then my wife reminded me that I have a ... uh ... small space ... walled...

WineXpert Classic Chile Cabernet Sauvignon 8L

Now that I am down to the last 5 or 6 bottles of the Cabernet that I made, I have purchased a few bottles from local stores so mine lasts a bit longer. This includes the Auspicion Cab that I was enjoying last year. That is the same vintner that I added to my own, in the misguided assumption that...

WineXpert Classic Chile Cabernet Sauvignon 8L

It’s time to start planning another batch of this Cabernet. I was very surprised at how well my first attempt at a large batch turned out. There does not seem to be any reason to change what I did to produce this wine. Just need to finally recover from an illness …

WineXpert Classic Chile Cabernet Sauvignon 8L

I have been away on a trip to Flagstaff, AZ for 10 days. I took three bottles of my Cabernet, and four bottles of my Moscato, with me. I stayed at the Little America hotel there. And I compared my Cabernet to several others. I tried two different Cabs at Little America, and a few others at...

    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

It's just a brand, offering a Cab Sauv and a Chardonnay. Seems to me to be distinctive with a rich flavor. https://hazelsboulder.com/shop/?product-id=56ca3bb17562752ed5670000

WineXpert Classic Chile Cabernet Sauvignon 8L

It took me a couple of days to figure out how to add more than a half bottle to a full carboy, in order to do any blending. I must be slow, but then I realized I can use my Bottling Bucket made for beer. This 6 gallon brewing bucket has a spigot for the vinyl bottling tubing. (Everything is kept...

WineXpert Classic Chile Cabernet Sauvignon 8L

Yesterday I bottled my 6 gallon batch of Cabernet. Between the two Carboy steps, I pulled out nearly a bottle and tasted it. I decided that I could perhaps make it more like my favorite, Auspicion ... by simply adding/blending that brand. So during bottling I poured two bottles of Auspicion into...

    Other Tweeking Cheap Kits

Four hundred and thirty-five thousand and counting. Wow. Well, my two cents worth: I bottled my 6 gallon batch of Cab Sauv from a WineXpert kit. After pulling out a bottle between carboys, I decided on and tested a way to make my Cabernet Sauvignon taste more like my favorite, Auspicion. I...

WineXpert First batch of Wine started

And of course a "new winemaker" has to work through how to store a number of bottles. It seems I may have 30 bottles of Cabernet, and 30 bottles of Moscato, in the next two weeks or so. There are shelves in our pantry where I have kept Eight cases of bottled homebrew Ale. Only have two cases...

    What's in your glass tonight?

Only bottle left from 2018, the last time I brewed beer before just recently. Three years in the fridge, still seems just fine. (mine is called "Standard Reference Ale" and it's very simple: Mountain spring water, Briess Malt, Cascade & Citra hops and SafAle US-05 yeast.)

    What's in your glass tonight?

Thank You very much everyone who commented and gave advice since I joined this great place about a month ago. My sweet wife is preparing a tasty chicken & rice dinner, and I am having some of the first Wine that I have made myself, from a one gallon WineXpert Kit of the 4 week Classic CA...

WineXpert First batch of Wine started

I bottled the one gallon kit of Moscato this morning-- Wow this really turned out well. So I just got back from buying a 6 gallon kit of the same from The Bald Brewer in Longmont. And I can rack the 6 gallons of Cabernet to a 2nd carboy on the 20th, to bottle that on the 22nd or so. Can't wait!

    WineXpert Wine Expert California Moscato

I am Bottling a Kit of this Moskato today. Just the one gallon size, and when I tasted a bit of it between carboys it seemed just fine. Will report back later today after bottling. :) edit: OKAY! That didn't take long. Cool! This is a very tasty wine, and this my first batch of Wine seems to...

Wow, lots of great photos of stuff I'm doing now, and more that I'll get to soon. Those finished bottles look so great. Read back: " ... hot straight and normal." Roger that, thanks!

WineXpert First batch of Wine started

Six months ago I had a plan to motivate me to clean up & organize my garage: which was to order a Kit Flintlock Rifle. I would need the workbench space for this effort and decided this would be a good way to get it done. The kit is rather expensive ... the plan did not happen. But now my garage...

WineXpert Auspicion Cabernet and Meiomi Pinot Noir

Several years ago a friend of mine brought a good quality Pinot Noir to a dinner night with friends. And I brought a bottle of Meiomi. The "Real Pinot" was not even close to being as enjoyable as the Meiomi, and several including my friend agreed. Thank you for your advice and suggestions!

WineXpert Auspicion Cabernet and Meiomi Pinot Noir

I don't know much about wines. I have always enjoyed beer and scotch. But in the last four or five years I have been enjoying wine instead. Of course, these two are very economical, but I really like the Auspicion Cabernet Savignon and the Meiomi Pinot Noir. What sort of additions and/or...

WineXpert First batch of Wine started

Yesterday was the day per instructions to check the SG, rack to a glass carboy, do the degassing and to start the clearing for my 1 gallon batch of Moscato. It seems there is nothing wrong, and my wife agrees it smells like cider. Today I added the Reserve bag of juice and BioFine. In a coupla...
