    Bulk aging vs bottling

Aw! To bulk or not to bulk, that is the question! Wither 6 gallons can be called "bulk" or not is the question. There is a big difference between several hundred gallons in a vat at the winery and a few gallons in a carboy. There's some argument as to wither aging in a carboy brings...

    Other Vino Europa (by PakLab)

I picked up a double kit from this company in Costco today. It's a red kit with one Merlot, one Cabernet Sauvignon. The kit retails for C$65 and includes 60 labels, shrinks and corks. http://www.paklabproducts.com/paklabproducts/en/vino_europa.aspx Has anyone tried them? Did you make...

    RJ Spagnols Very Rapid Fermentation

I have already racked it to the carboy. According to the instructions, when the SG is as low as it is, it should be ready for stablilizing. However, it is does seem to still be fermenting, as it is throwing C02. With the SG at the current level I would think fermentation will be finished...

    RJ Spagnols Very Rapid Fermentation

I started a Grand Cru White Zinfandel kit six (6) days ago. (SG 1.08) Temp:70F I transferred it to a carboy today and the SG was .996. Secondary fermentation is supposed to be complete after another fourteen (14) days. When SG should be less than .998! How long should I leave it...

    filtration

I'm new at this. When do you filter your wines? The LFoP seems to pooh pooh filtering. An article I read suggests that tannins are removed by filtering. Would you just filter your white wine?

RJ Spagnols RJS Cru Select Orange Choolate Port

By the way Wade... I was in the local shop the other day, they had two of these kits in stock and they told me they are a regular item. :h

    RJ Spagnols Question about RJS

It seems RJ Spangnols doesn't either. I bought one of their kits today and I watched an "instruction" video on their web site. It left out all the details and was clearly suggesting that you have your local FoP shop make your wine. Also, the "kit instructions" on the website don't even...

RJ Spagnols RJS Cru Select Orange Choolate Port

I wonder what the orange chocolate would be like if it was fortified with a bottle of Orange and Brandy? Has anyone tried it?

    Looking for a chocolate port

This recipe sounds great. Have you tried it with blackberries? Think it would be OK just to substitute the blackberries for strawberries?

Some shopkeepers just don't get it!

That is where I have an issue I guess. I thought that I had communicated my wishes clearly at the start. I wanted to be involved. At first it seemed he understood, but when I went back it seemed like suddenly he was going to turn out a great batch of wine. Which is great but I was looking...

Some shopkeepers just don't get it!

My wife ended up with a $25.00 coupon from a local Wine Kitz store. So I take the coupon in and explain that I want to buy a kit and start it at his shop, but, I want to be involved in the process so that I can learn how wine is made. Great he says and we start a kit. When I go back to the...

    Wine Kitz Coastal Sunset White

I got into the local Wine Kitz store today. The owner says that the kits will be about $75. I think he said $70 for the white, $75 for the red. He says it's one of the 7.5 Litre kits. He didn't seem happy with the early release date. He says they usually don't start releasing the special...
