    If you do the inoculation of the MLB after you have racked to secondary and it takes 3 months to complete do you worry about the lack of meta? I'm guessing that's where the testing comes in?? :?

    Thanks, just what I was looking for and some other reference material it seems I will need. I haven't attempted an MLF yet but am hopping to as soon as gather some of the required supplies. Hopefully in time for the Chilean juice.:slp

    Barrel wont stop leaking!

    If you've ever wooden doors or windows you may have had this experience that in the summer when it is warm and humid they swell and stick or rub but in the winter when it is cool and dry they contract and open and close no problem I'm thinking same with the wooden barrel? Just a thought. :d

    Cork prep?

    Before I bottle I put them in a plastic container give them a few spritzes of meta put the top on give the container a few shakes and let it sit while I'm prepping the bottles then it's off to the races. :p

    +1 On Corrado's they are the closest LHBS to me though not really that close I go there when I can ususally for the juice pails.

    Rubber stopper issues

    I don't know if it'll work with a rubber stopper but i had two bottles with the corks pushed and I tried that and it worked like a charm. I was so excited, my wife thought I was nuts. ;)

    Racked 6 gallons of the skeeter pee and 18 gallons of the Nero D'Avola/Dolcetta blend. My 6 year old granddaughter came over and wants pizza so of course pizza it is. :i

    Ok, tried the plastic bag and cork trick but all the bags i tried seem to have hole and wouldn't hold air but when I was checking you tube for the demo there was a guy doing the same thing only he was using a cloth napkin. So I tried using a rag and it worked! I was so excited I got my bottles...

    Scrubbed a label off that was soaking overnight before I left for work this morning. I do them one or two at a time as I get them that way it's not a time consuming task. :)
