5 gallons of pear in secondary now. Looking like it will need to clear quite a lot. At what point should I use clarifying agents now or after several rackings? Usually use Super Kleer or Dual fine.

Never ordered from CFP. I did use Luva Bella and never got any numbers there. Joe

I looked at CFP yesterday and they are around $60 per pail. They are closer to me but I guess I will drive up to the Luva Bella winery where I had been getting my juice. Still on the $50s there. Joe

The pectin enzyme really saved me on several batches of fruit wine this last year. I used 2x the recommended dose with no ill effects.

A Dragons Blood left from last summer. Triple berry. Very smooth lots of berry flavors.

I will do merlot juice bucket from Consumers in PGH and add grapes to it which will be a first for me. Maybe another different bucket not sure yet.

That’s what I do too

For 8164 label i just heat the label with the heat gun and it peels off. A small glue residue washes off. Much easier than commercial label removal.

Doesn’t the beginning fermentation usually require more air than the airlock provides? Many folks simply cover the bucket with a cloth for the primary fermentation and don’t put it under airlock until racked to secondary.

I use Avery 8163 or 8164 which is a little bigger 3 1/3 x 4. I like the 8164 better. I bring a thumb drive with the label to officemax and they print it on color laser. Looks good and holds up to a little moisture like bottle sweating ok. Cheap for the 4-5 sheets they print.

Haven’t had luck with restaurants saving them even when they agreed to do it. Hadmoreluck with giving a bartender a big tip at a banquet and saved two mixed cases for me.

Ouch! I bottled it in brown hock bottles that were for riesling. A case of those and a case of burgundy bottles.

Just finished a little over 5 g of DB or as we call it Bella Rosso. Next on my agenda will be 5 g of pears from fruit frozen last year. Then a short break till fall grape is in. Joe

I know this is tiny compared to some of you, but with 7 varieties under my belt it was time to label the shelves! I am using more and more of my wife’s storage...good thing she enjoys the wine

Ended up with 28 bottles for this batch. Tastes very nice- off dry. Good berry flavor and a nice color. Only hitch in this one was the fluffy sediment at the end after that dose of pectic enzyme which made it tricky to siphon. Joe
