    Help me identify this problem?

I'm about to start. I have Serenade and copper already on hand. Sounds like those would be good for downy mildew? (I go organic)

    Help me identify this problem?

This is only on maybe 1 or 2 of my vines, but looks concerning.

    Need pruning advise

That's the best breakdown I've seen of this ever. Makes me feel better about the anchoring I did on my lines, which sort of felt over-engineered. Now I don't feel that. :) (I use angled end post and an anchor, both of which are sunk in 2' into the ground. The auger-anger is actually not screwed...

First year vines - Blue-X tube question

    Where are you located?

    Growing Marquette organically ?

Is that like being "partially pregnant"? :D

When should I start seeing new growth?

Just an update that all my vines are showing growth at this point. There were three that I was still convinced were dead up until a week or two ago. The spectrum of growth vigor among the vines is quite extreme, though. Some are certainly happier than others.

    Growing Marquette organically ?

I have a big bag of Surround to try this year, and am also growing marquette organically in Vermont. I have a cocktail of other things I got late in the season (includes BeetleGone) after I discovered just how bad it was going to get. I'm armed and ready this year. JB's were a nightmare last...

    Need pruning advise

Boy, your 1-year marquette vines are a lot further along than mine that I planted last year. They even make special soap to hang for deer. I have some on hand but haven't deployed them yet.

    Vineyard maintenance Mower question

If you'd like to think outside the box... after my push mower crapped out, I got one of these: https://egopowerplus.com/power-mowers/ Works great, less maintenance, and cheaper to run. I also got the chainsaw that uses the same battery. They have other tools too. My riding tractor is Cub Cadet...

First year vines - Blue-X tube question

I tried tubes but then found trying to spray down them to be ineffective. It came down to choosing between tubes or getting rid of Japanese beetles. I chose the latter, pruned down to the ground this winter, and am foregoing the tubes this year. Anyone need a bunch of blue tubes? :D

    Beneficial/cover crops for small vineyards?

Boy this thread really got de-railed from my original question... heh.

    Beneficial/cover crops for small vineyards?

Pretty sure vinegar isn't just a weed-killer... it's an herbicide. So those homemade "weed killer" mixes will actually kill anything that grows. Probably not what you want to be pouring next to your grape vines. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

When should I start seeing new growth?

Well I already did winter dormant pruning all the way to 2-3 buds above ground, so I'm hesitant to prune further. :/

When should I start seeing new growth?

Oh phew, I'll wait a bit longer before panicking. :) Weather is supposed to be nice this Saturday so I'll walk the rows again and see if anything's changed since last time.

When should I start seeing new growth?

This is my first spring having the vines already in the ground (planted last year). I did a dormant pruning earlier this year. I'm wondering at what point I should start to see new growth? If all my vines died over winter I'd prefer to know sooner rather than later... I'm located in Vermont...

    New Winexpert Kits

I might disagree with this. I'm hardly anywhere near a "best wine taster" but I feel nearly certain that if you poured me glasses of cab, merlot, pinor noir, and tempranillo I could tell you which is which. I could probably pick out the malbec if you threw that into the mix.

    PRESS SIZE

How many vines do you have?
  19. sremick

    PRESS SIZE

I have 42 vines. They were just planted so no grapes for a while, but I think I found a local source to practice with in the meantime. What would be a good size bladder press to get? It seems 60L would be just about right but they jump from 40L to 80L. I hear it's not good to run a bladder press...
