    Quit lifting

Thank you so much. I checked it out, and I even have a Harbor Freight that has the Torah one in stock. However, my workbench is 36 inches high. I have to decide whether or not it's worth me screwing around with adding an 8 inch platform to the top of the table. Everything that I do seems to be...

    Sorry, moving too fast. Sage?

Thank you. I did before I asked. Where did you get yours?

Would you mind posting a link for that lift table, please ?

    2018 Cab Blends

Thanks. Where are you getting the Oak Staves in those sizes? Are you racking to empty tanks, or to other containers and then back into the tanks? I would be so afraid to be doing the work on the hardwoods! Still debating, and concerned about handling of the tanks, esp the 30 gallons. I presently...

    2018 Cab Blends

So please tell me about your experience with the flex tanks. Are those 15 gallons or 30 gallons? Do you have the ability to compare the micro oxygenation to barrels? Do you end up losing any volume to evaporation?

    Racking

Just to be clear, arbitrarily picking 3 months does you no goodIf your timing is off otherwise. I agree that racking too often over exposes to oxygen. Always keep in mind that you want to rack off the gross lees as soon as possible. I would and then rack following MLS, unless you're choosing...

    How to perform extended maceration?

I don't think it's an either or, but agree that it is definitely a choice relating to the type of varietal.

    How to perform extended maceration?

What about cold maceration, either instead or in addition? EM makes me nervous. I have had issues with wine left on the gross lees when I first started. Last year I did a CM for 7 days prior to PF/AF and that seems to have worked very well.

    2017 Cab Blends

Nice. So I see you are using flex tanks. 15 gal? Experience? What are you racking into? Returning to the tanks? I went from a few years of using glass, to the last two of using fermonsters. I have lots of those now, fortunately or not. How much do the flex tanks weigh empty? Do you move...

New wine room build - planning

What did the cooling unit run you? Where are you located? Too cold in Syracuse for a split. My new cellar is insulated with double layers of 2" RMAX. The portable AC (11000 BTU) keeps it at 55 easily. I just installed a 6 gal evaporative unit as well. I think I may loop the drainage from the...

New Wine Room (Brew and Storage)

Agree that you should try and make it larger if you can. If you can punch thru the wall and put at least a 6" duct thru, now is the time to do it. Just make sure you have a proper power circuit to handle an AC unit at that location. Then you can use a portable AC, if single duct, then duct out...

New Wine Room (Brew and Storage)

Then you can't use a split system. Can you bore a 6-8" hole in your exterior wall?

All really, really, nice. Cooling? Humidification? Sorry if I missed it. Seth

New Wine Room (Brew and Storage)

Go for the largest single bowl sink you can afford: https://www.webstaurantstore.com/14911/1-compartment-sinks.html See the criteria on the left. Seth

New Wine Room (Brew and Storage)

Agree with JonD but that's why I asked you where you live. A lot depends on the environment and winter temperatures. Split systems generally don't work where the external temperature falls significantly below freezing. I use a single ducted portable air conditioner which when fooled keeps it at...

New Wine Room (Brew and Storage)

Where are you located? Can you core a hole thru the external facing wall?

New Wine Room (Brew and Storage)

Where did your pic of the storage come from? I find it extraordinary that they built those on wheels! How are you cooling the storage space? I realize you are framed, but the pocket door will likely present an issue in the future as you can't seal it properly. You can have the door swing into...

    Humidifier Recommendations Sought

So spent some time thinking about how these things work (I have a small ultrasonic one now). I believe the water containers all act as if they are pet water feeders. Think about it. When you fill the container/bottle, and then invert it, it opens the bottom by the spring based mechanism, and...

    Humidifier Recommendations Sought

Thank you! Never would have found that float valve. It's amazing how I can get obsessed with stuff like this. I have now scoured the net and there isn't a reasonably price evaporative or ultrasonic humidifier with autofill capability. There was one...
