    Wine press question

I picked up a used wine press a while ago. It's a ratcheting style wood basket press. It has 2 half circle wood blocks with handles, 2 half circles without handles, 2 small half circles, then a bunch of blocks. When I used it yesterday, I found as I was applying pressure, the blocks and even...

    Pasteurizing in bulk

I have never pasteurized wine before, but this one very sweet wine that we make for a relative I am worried that it will referment on me even if I am using sorbate. I was wondering about people's thoughts on pasteurization. It will be way too many bottles for me to try to do it in bottle. But...

    What R you doing today?

Did another 300+ lbs yesterday, this was dornfelder grapes. Got 80 L. Fermenting 60, keeping 20 frozen for back sweetening. I make this for one aunt who loves low alcohol, sweet dornfelder. She supplies the grapes from their farm. I leave the crushed grapes on skins just for 6 hours, then...

    2019 Grape Season

WIll be harvesting my muscat Wednesday or Thursday. They are almost a month behind but finally this past weekend I was seeing 18-20 brix. I'm at a conference now so needs to wait until I'm back, but excited to get going on this years. Not sure when I'll get any more, I'm pretty sure I'm doing...

Tried my hand at all grain beer brewing today. I've done extract kits in the past but never then one straight from grains. Made 5 gallons and I think it mostly went okay. I had some trouble getting the right temperature because my digital thermometer was acting up and give me me unreliable...

I'm happy to ship a jar or two around if people want some hot sauce. Not this batch, it's spoken for, but there will be a few more still this year.

I have 30-ish hot pepper plants this year: -Orange Copenhagen Ghost -Carolina Reaper -Apocalypse Scorpion -Yellow Devils Tongue -Scotch Bonnet -Habanero -Jalapeno -Thai -Banana 3-4 of each variety. Had 5-6 of each but did some in pots and gave them away. I usually make a few batches of hot...

Made some hot sauce from todays harvest. Everything except the vinegar and salt is from our garden. In addition to the peppers (scorpion, reaper, ghost, yellow devils tongue, thai, jalapeno), there are also tomatoes, onions, carrots, and garlic.

Warranty is 8yrs, 100,000 miles on model 3. To give you an idea, the highest mileage model s known is nearing 600,000 miles and is on its 2nd battery pack.

    Post your labels here

Not a wine label, but it contains my wine. I make a bunch of hot sauces from our garden. Ghost-Cat is my favourite so far. This year will be my first growing carolina reapers and apocalypse scorpions, so need to come up with creative names for sauces based off those. I like blending them with...

    What R you doing today?

Took the older 2 kids camping this weekend to try out our new (to us) camper, my wife stayed home with the baby. All in all, we like it. Electric water pump for the sink is nice, much more roomy than our old one and the table is nicer too. I do miss the add-a-room though, kept the bugs out. I...

    Old website - mywinerecipes.com

I usually send people to the 'way back machine' (WBM) which is an online archive of websites stored for posterity. There are several snapshots of mywinerecipes.com from over the years, but unfortunately I don't think it will be much help in this case because the WBM works by copying all the text...

    Japanese beetles help

I use Altacor, I spray it when I first see them appear and reapply every week or two. But this year I've only seen 1 JB so far, so haven't sprayed yet.

We're up at a family cottage this week. Today a storm came across the lake and knocked over a bunch of trees. Out cottage and cars are ok but a few houses down they weren't so lucky. Would not be surprised if a small tornado came through.

    What R you doing today?

Last night my buddies and I grilled at another wedding. Steak was beef tenderloin. Now off to the cottage for a nice rest.

    Aquarium filter?

It is free shipping over $100. But buying a couple $5 filters doesn't get you to 100. Thats why I was looking for an option for when I just need 1 or two filters at a time.

    Aquarium filter?

That website does have cheap pricing, however unless you spend $100+ then it's $20 to ship. So now my two $5 filters are $30 instead of $10. When I need more stuff I'll order from them, but hoping these work for one-offs.

    Aquarium filter?

I have an all-in-one wine pump and whole house filter. I've used the pentek P1 1-micron filters in the past. In Canada I've had trouble finding them for a good price without having to double or triple the cost in shipping. On Amazon I came across this...
