    Meritage.

Guys, I need some suggestions. I'm making from juice 6 gallons each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petite Sirah and Chardonnay. I want to make a Meritage. Yes, I know Chardonnay and Petite Sirah do not go in it. I do have 6 bottles left of my 2020 Malbec and an empty 5 gallon...

    MLF in Port style wine

That's what I thought. And that's why I asked for a second opinion because those tiny bubbles looks just like the ones in MLF. Also, there's no geranium smell.

    MLF in Port style wine

Can someone explain this to me please. This is not the first time that I make Port style wine, but it is the first time that I actually noticed this. I removed the wine at the right SG, added the spirit and sorbate. Three weeks later racked the wine and added brandy barrel oak chips. Two days...

    Has my MLF started?

As @RottenGrapeJuice said, just wait at least a month and in the meantime get a chromatography test kit. My Chilean Syrah failed MLF and I used VP41. That was my first MLF fail and I waited at least a month and a half.

    My First MLF!

I know this is a bit late, but for the first time had problems with VP41 on a chilean syrah. It didn't work, had to give up and proceed to the next step.

    Today’s harvest: Merlot

For the first time I had probles with stuck MLF with a chilean syrah with VP41. Tried twice to no avail. I gave up and racked it to another carboy, added Kmeta and oak.

    Stuck MLF

I have the same problem for the first time with MLB in a Chilean Syrah bought in May of this year. And I used VP41. So I'm baffled of why it's suck half way thru MLF with VP41. Never had issues with it and it's Summer now, temperature shouln't be an issue. Been stirring it often. Shouls I add...

Meant to say did not have any issues above.

'Stuck' malolactic fermentation - what to do?

I did have any issues with last year's Chilean Malbec and also used VP41. Guess I'll have to add more nutrient. The amounts were the same.

'Stuck' malolactic fermentation - what to do?

Have exactly the same problem this year with Chilean Syrah. It's been a month and a half, did two tests, one after a month and then two weeks later. Still half away. What baffles me.is that I used the workhorse VP41. Any ideas?
