    Too Early?

These are my Black Mannukas starting the veraison process. Is it too early for this? In my experience up north if this happens before my others they tend to turn into raisins quick. We’ve had 100degree weather for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I water twice a week ( Sun & Thurs) 2gal per hr system for...

    It’s coming along

Mission accomplished on the ambiance. My goal was to drape the vines over the fence like we had back home where I grew up. Now, we’ll see if I get decent sized great tasting table grapes.

Well, the kids are grown and its time for me to be 20yrs old again at 53!

    Backyard Accents

True, that did come to mind so I put it below the cordon so that I can see it. Should the tag be covered I can either prune or lift. Good thing is if needed, it can be moved around. I only have 9 vines.

    Backyard Accents

While not feasible for a vineyard, why not for a backyard? I got tired of my plastic nursery tags going missing so I had an idea. At $6 a piece it was no financial hardship but boy did it add a touch of class to my yard. Well, at least my wife and I think so and isn’t that what counts? Decided...

    Post your clusters

Yep that's about how hot it gets here but without the humidity. That's why I'll be changing my watering from 2 1/2 gal a week to twice a week. I've already marked my calendar to take pictures every 2 weeks to eventually make a time lapse video. So far no bug issues or fungus. Not sure if fungus...

    Post your clusters

ok cool, sounds like you’re rebounding. My son in NY told me they had snow and a tornado watch a week or two ago. Here in El Paso we‘re already hitting 90s and lows in the 60s. Below you’ll see how far we’ve gotten. I dated it 30 April to save myself time of waiting 3 days to take one on the...

    Am I on track?

Here's an updated photo. It seems to be doing fine and a local Vineyard manager told me just let it grow wild and it will build the trunks/cordons for next year. Then I could let it fruit.

    Help needed

I haven't used any chemicals on the leaves, just a soapy water mixture. I cut all the bad leaves off so that I can monitor new leaves better. They're all doing fine now and I won't use that mixture again. Apparently, I left the vegetable oil out of the mix. Lesson learned, I've decided to go...

    Help needed

No worries with being wordy it helps to eliminate additional questions. I’m not sure what I’m trying to fight off as they aren’t making themselves seen. Unlike the aphids on my apple trees what ever is eating my grape leaves are eating and running. Just want to make sure I get this resolved...

Thanks Dennis that was very informative. 1)You mentioned rotating products and be prepared to use something else later. Does this mean the afore mentions cannot be used long term. 2) Can I spray leaves and fruit with these mentioned? 3) Are the products I posted better used on fruit trees or...

When is too much too much?

Larger berries aren’t a bad thing for me as I’m going the table grape route. I sorta felt like it was too early to cull as there’s no guarantee any of these would make it to the next level. Since I’m not using any commercial type boosters to get larger grapes, I’m wondering when is a good time...

    Help needed

Thanks Guys, I’m not hard pressed to stay organic what I‘d like is effectiveness in a product. I’m finding through this post that most seem to be using CAPTAN. How often is this used? If its good enough for Major Vineyards it’s definitely good enough for me. I’ve heard videos on the NEEM and one...

When is too much too much?

I know I’m supposed to do some cluster thinning, but when is too much too much? What I mean by that is, do I thin now so that the others can grow plump? or do I thin later to see which ones specifically need to be thinned out? Btw, these are Summer Royals.

Pruned two weeks before a very hard freeze...

Looks awesome, I’m only in year 3 on a back yard 9 vine micro vineyard, lol. Can’t wait to see girth on these trunks and cordons.
