    Allinone pressure washer/bottle sanitizer

Steve, can't I have two buckets? One with hot water and kmeta to draw from and the other for letting the dirty material to fall in. Then I would not need to filter the dirty water.

It begins... RJS Cellar Series Cabernet

I think we all went through what you're going through. It's somewhat comforting to re-live it through you. Thanks for keeping us updated. I remember my first batch was a Stags Leap Mertlot and after I bottled it, I said to my wife this stuff is ready to drink. I got back on this forum and...

It begins... RJS Cellar Series Cabernet

I would think there would be a mention of not topping up to 2" because you need some room for degassing. You should degas before clearing and topping. Just trying to think out loud for everyone. Other thoughts?

    What's in your glass tonight?

Drinking tonight. Mine is from Costco also. It's a Spanish Rioja. Very dry and very bug. I buy a case each time I go. It's on sale for $7.99. Get some, it's worth it.

First batch of wine - A few questions

I would recommend to keep racking until you barely see sediment at the bottom of the carboy. This is just me, but prior to bottling I filter the wine into a fermenting bucket and then bottle from there. There are some experts that never filter because they feel the filtering process takes...

    WineXpert Eclipse Zinfandel

I'm starting this kit sometime in June, I do plan to add oak, tanins and 1 lb of currents in primary and then add oak cubes and tanins in secondary. Kinda like Joe, "Thinking outside the box."

Great post. The wine looks great also.

    Other Reserve Du Chateau ?

Amazon Kits I've posted before that the kits I bought from Amazon all turned out great. Learn Joe's secrets about thinking outside the box and you can make these great.

    first day metal detecting

Metal detecting Hi James, I bought a detector late last year and got hooked also. I joined this forum. Maybe you'd like it also. I love going to the "Todays Finds" area and see what people are digging up. I've heard there is still more wealth under ground than above it...

    Thinking outside the box

Yes, I filter every batch, but just once. I use the Buon mini-jet filtering system, however when it wears out I will build the in-line system that works with the AIO. I did purchase some tannins for white wine. I can't recall it's name right now. I don't think it was Tannin Riche. I'll let you...

    Thinking outside the box

Lori, Great post. Please let me know the manufacturer of the tannins you are using. I know there are tannins for red wines and different tannins for white wines. I think you need to add at least 6 more weeks of fermentation for the tannins to release all they give. Sorry, I didn't mean to...

Other What are your favorite inexpensive "everyday" kit wines?

That's the one I made. My wife states it's as good, or better, than any commercial wine at $10 plus. Look up Joe's thread about tweaking an Amarone and then the quality is over the top.

    Sediment in my bottled wine

This is the one I use. I only use the #2 filters. It's around $155 on ebay. I used cheaper ones that always wore out. http://www.ebay.com/bhp/buon-vino-wine-filter When I replace this one, I will build the in-line one that links to the All-in-One wine pump. I hope this helps. NOTE: If I...

    Thinking outside the box

Lori, Great post. You are going to become the next Joe... Are you going to tweak this? Maybe 3/4 lbs of red grapes and 1/4 lb of white? Then add some tannins and additional oak in secondary. Just trying to think out of the box.

Other What are your favorite inexpensive "everyday" kit wines?

I'd suggest many of them. They all work. I've had a lot of compliments with the Amarone. Use Joe's, out of the box tweaks, and you've got a great wine, cheap. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Reserve%20Du%20Chateau%206%20Week%20Wine%20Kit%20

Other What are your favorite inexpensive "everyday" kit wines?

Coleman, I've purchased many of the big buckets from Amazon for $75 and enjoyed every one of them. Give then a shot. They deliver to your door and if you have Prime, it's free shipping. Maybe tax free too. I'm cooking 4 buckets of white's right now. I plan to tweak them with extra tannins and...
