We want to downsize, so we bought a smaller house, smaller acreage, etc. It needed way more work than we had planned, including ripping out all the subfloor downstairs. My husband and I are doing it all ourselves, other than the new HVAC system we hired installed. LVP flooring downstairs...

    What's in your glass tonight?

Homemade gewurztraminer. Bottom of the carboy, had been on the lees too long. I'm thinking if I drink enough of the crappy stuff I might Learn to like anything, lol! Okay, it's not too bad. hic....hic..hic.

    What's for Dinner?

I can't take credit, but I did partake! My husband smoked these baby back ribs today with oak and hickory. It grows on our place and he just shaves a little off a dead branch. I don't know what all he put in the sauce but it turned out awesome good. I ate too much!

My pond with the manmade cave built in the 1800's to fire pottery. I just about got knocked back into the pond when I was going in there one time and a HUGE turkey vulture cam flying out. I'm not sure which one of us was more surprised.

    traditional vs country,

Arne-I'm in the process of renovating the house we bought. We bought it knowing we would be doing some updating, but we didn't realize just how extensive it was going to be. As soon as we are done with that and moved in I will be starting on the yard, garden and vineyard. Maybe THEN I could...

    traditional vs country,

As far as flavoring, the red raspberry and elderberry I ordered is from Fruitfast. The tart cherry was just some I picked up at Walmart, their store brand. Houndog-I wish I had black raspberries. I love them, but don't have access to any right now.

    traditional vs country,

Skeeter is 75 right now. It stays warner in that room than any other place in the house. I added nutrient a while back, so I don't think I should add any more. I still have it in buckets. I am stirring vigorously at least twice a day. I get lots of foam (CO2?) every time I stir. The SG has...

    What's in your glass tonight?

Tonight- gewurztraminer that I made from a kit. I had about 1/2 gallon from the bottom of the barrel that sat on the lees too long. It has a nice kick to it but the flavor still has a certain amount of a yeast flavor to it. The rest of the 5 gallon batch is fine, but I knew this was not the...

    traditional vs country,

Now my question is approximately how much elderberry juice concentrate should be added to skeeter pee per gallon for flavoring? How about raspberry? As far as the tart cherry goes, if this doesn't ferment down as much as I would like I might just add all I have! I don't think it's as...

    What's for Dinner?

ibglowin yes it is the electric oven with convection and gas rangetop. I liked the cobalt blue because that is how all my dishes are decorated and my entire kitchen will be cobalt blue and white in a country French style. Besides the convection feature I really like the range of power on the...

    What's for Dinner?

Obviously we still have work to do on the kitchen walls but we just finished installing this range today. Zline dual fuel gas and electric convection oven in cobalt blue. Its going to be so much nicer than what I have been using.

Hounddog If only I had started this batch that way.

    Darn Skeeter Pee!

I started a 5 gallon batch a while back. I added two bottles of the realemon at the start. It only started to ferment and then stalled. I divided it into two carboys, added water and sugar to dilute the acid and ended up with 11 gallons. It was not doing much and I wasn't sure what to do. I...

    traditional vs country,

Love this back and forth. I find the "country" interesting, and considering myself very country, I embrace it. Oh, it's not that I don't enjoy the "finer things" in life sometimes, too! As far as wine goes, I'm still new enough that I'm still learning just what I do like and struggling with...

    What's for Dinner?

I want to try that gojuchang sauce sometme. I've never had it but the ingredient list sounds good. sour_grapes your granite looks exactly like what I am putting in the house we are renovating. Silver Wave is the name of the style I am using. Looks the same.

My First Attempt at Dangerdave's Dragon Blood

Teckel. Sometimes my fingers don't type what my brain is thinking. Fingers sometimes have their own idea, especially on certain words.
