Buon Vino filtration system -- best practices

Yep, good soak and C-clamp, never had an issue. Can't really add anything to this but no you can't have that last ten seconds back.

    What's in your glass tonight?

No dirty diapers in this one... but my first vintage was basically liquid band-aid. I bought cheap pH meters (first was used) both the first and second year and neither of them worked, the second year I just added the same amount of tartaric that the guys who run the winery I got the fruit from...

    What's in your glass tonight?

The old man came over for Father's Day, so I popped open a bottle of 2020 shiraz that was my second vintage. I've formally written it off but you know what, it wasn't too bad. Somehow tasted like a cheap kiwi pinot, which I'll take! No idea what's going on, it was so bland last time 🤔

    Starting my backyard vineyard

For the love of all things holy I hope so, or I'm in some Barney Rubble with my vines!

Best Vineyard Trellis System for Hot Climate?

I take it that 'California sprawl' is just a single fruiting wire? I'm in a warm-to-hot climate here Mgoldy and most if not all of the commercial guys do the same. There's some pretty special producers around these parts too, all single fruiting wire.

    Poor berry set

They all drop dead at 40 from ulcers, that's how they do it.

    Things we do

The riesling was against my better judgement given how much sun we get here. It's more about learning for the first few years so plenty of time to read up on management strategies for hot climates. We have a couple of local wineries that make premium drops so I plan on annoying the sh*t out of a...

Thanks mate, she's coming along ok. Endone Is a wonderful thing. At least the hours in the hospital cafeteria pointed me in the direction of this place once more 👍

Something weird is going on with some of my cab vines.

I don't have any idea what's going on but that sure is one hell of a sentence.

2022 Cab growth starting off great.

So you guys are having a bad summer in CA? We're about to have our third la niña summer in a row which means mild and wet, not really business as usual in southern Australia. Watching this thread with interest because these cycles are usually flowed by 8-9 year droughts here, and I'm super...

    Vineyard From the Beginning- Grapeman

Must say I'm glad to read this. Just planted some vines on Paulsen into reasonably clay-heavy soil next to a lake, so they'll find the water pretty damn quickly I'm assuming.

    Things we do

...or "How to produce 100-proof riesling" Two things can be made given enough pressure and time, diamonds and a backyard vineyard. After getting the go-ahead from the Minister of Everything i have finally planted my own little vineyard and seeing the first little green and pink shoots. Cannot...

    What's in your glass tonight?

Just waiting for my wife to come out of surgery, so right now anything that is wet and casts a shadow will suffice. Nice little local shiraz sitting at home waiting for me, post-Florence Nightingale duties, of course.
