all the bottles you'll ever need - free

Cindy, Did you try FreeCycle.org? They seemed to have a bunch, but onesies, twosies. That can lead to some better leads though. I still say CL and wine shops are your best bet. Worked well for me.

all the bottles you'll ever need - free

My biggest score so far is a wine shop. They do tastings twice a week 4:30-8pm they go through a LOT of wine. Also the second biggest score is a vineyard/winery. they have tons of bottles - same reason. PS - according to the Gewurstaminer Law of 1624, all whites must be in Blue bottles...

    How much is allowed?

OK, I thought KY was weird until I heard the 10' wall story. :D 80+/- counties out of 120 counties in the state are dry in KY. Now, you can have a wet city in a Dry county (Springfield/Washington Co --- and a dry city in a wet county. The joke here in KY is Bourbon Co is dry and...

cool. i have been buying a No Rinse/B-Brite/One Step type product. IT feels the same in the water - I just wanted to make sure it didn't have extra yukky stuff in it. Wal Mart 8.95 - Dollar General 5 bucks for the tub. Thanks guys! Brad Simmons

I trust you all, so in the bottles it is. Vintner's Reserve White Zin (a recommendation for poolside drinks) - for Sangria and Party drinks this summer. I am dreaming of summer! Thanks guys! FYI - it tastes great NOW! Can't wait to age it a bit.

I have Oxy-Cleaned, do I need to B Brite as well?

OK, I drowned the bottles in OxyClean, removed the labels, rinsed - they squeak they are so clean. I know i need to KMet them with the Vinator, but do I need to One-Step/B-Brite/No Rinse them as well? Ready to bottle and don't want to do anything wrong. Thanks in advance, Brad

Death be to the Handy Cork

I got the floor corker - just did a batch with a friend and my 6 yr old - yup, that's the only way to do it. I had my buddy do one with the "handy" corker first, then he moaned in ecstasy with every floor corker squeeze. Gotta have the bad before you can appreciate the great. FYI - I...

all the bottles you'll ever need - free

OK, I took all y'all's advice and found more bottles than I know what to do with. Craig's List - excellent - good leads from out of the woodwork. Some were just people with 5-15 bottles - some were wineries and vineyards 10-15 cases - and one was - bingo - a wine shop. They do weekly...

juice came, leaking - what to do

if it is bad, will it ferment? When will I know? I made it yesterday - it tasted fine (gotta sneak a tiny bit of juice out in a glass). I have confidence it will be fine. (I am a positive, wishful thinking kind of guy). It is cold here, so I don't think any buggies are out and about now...

juice came, leaking - what to do

Great guys - I will go ahead and go forth. We'll see what happens - why couldn't it have been a silly little 60 dollar White Zin kit or something like that. I won't know if it is good for months! :-) Thanks for all your help!!! Brad

juice came, leaking - what to do

I have great luck having stuff shipped in - and George packed this thing perfect - peanuts, etc, etc. My Old Vines juice came in with an apparent hole in it. The Renaissance box is damp - the peanuts and the outer shipping box is not wet. Can I use this? Is it contaminated? If it is...

    degassing for 2 hrs?

Finishing - great, now I know. It was thick - and rich - and creamy. That will make any wine - ultra fine it seems. Mo juice, mo flavor. Thanks guys!

    degassing for 2 hrs?

cool. I think Wade is right on the money - froth, not bubbles. It calls for 2 min, heck - I hit it for 20 min cumulative. I hit the F pack - what does F stand for anyway? and the Chitosan/Isinglass and we are in the wine bidness. Thank you for all your help - you saved my tail. Want...

    degassing for 2 hrs?

yes, I am reversing on hi - just as you say. I am seeing bubbles and it is waving up and down - you know. Am I doing it right? Stop now? I like the froth idea = that is spot on. But what do I have?

    degassing for 2 hrs?

OK, am I just a freak of nature or am I agonizing over this. I have been degassing a White Zin WEVR kit for over 2 hrs on and off. I have it on the sink drainboard and using a drill and the MixStir thingy from George. I am STILL getting a ton of bubbles!:? I asked George if I was going...

Is there a huge difference between kit levels?

Thank you! I was going to order an all-juice deal last night - I think your advice has put me over the edge. I will call George and see what he says. Your link is great - I need to get on it! Thanks again for the help.

Is there a huge difference between kit levels?

OK, here's a subjective Q, but I like a big, fat Cab - I am placing an order right now with George - what do you think I should try? about $150-160 kit budget? Your input and experience is appreciated.
