Wine purchased online - CC Fraud

It was likely a Phishing scheme. That's the only way I've ever heard of anyone getting 'hacked'.

Wine purchased online - CC Fraud

It's a super huge PITA if you have lots of bills on auto-pay with the CC that they just closed for fraud. I wish everyone just took PayPal and all I had to do is change one place.

Wine purchased online - CC Fraud

So far the bad guys haven't been able to undermine services like PayPal. It doesn't matter where I was making purchases (and I have no way to know which one was hacked). All I can hope is that they catch the people doing it.

Wine purchased online - CC Fraud

Two of my credit cards have been compromised in the past 3 months. I just wanted to say that using PayPal, Visa Checkout or another similar service that doesn't directly expose your Credit Card info is the better way to do online business. I'm in the IT business and I can tell you that a lot...

    RJ Spagnols RJS Port kits

Did they give you a replacement based on clarity? Or do you mean you bought another one?

    RJ Spagnols RJS Port kits

No, I don't use clarifier. I let mine drop clear.

    RJ Spagnols RJS Port kits

I add the f-pack in the bottling bucket. All 3 kits are clear (holding the bottles up to a bright light), however the coffee kit is nearly black. Take a small sample in a small test tube (or narrow champagne flute) and shine a bright light through it. When I ask people about the attributes of a...

The fpacks will cloud them up, by they fall clear in a day or two without any problems.

    How's Your IRA/401K Doing?

This is just a correction... it happens every other year or so. Just let it pass. Any quick action at this point is a big mistake. It's hard to understand, and harder to stomach, I know.

Ports were talking to me - Time to bottle!

Ok, we had people over, so I tried both a blend of the coffee and caramel kits together... and compared that to the caramel with the coffee extract. Everyone was in agreement that they both were very good, but the coffee extract blend had the most coffee aroma by far and the most profound...

Ports were talking to me - Time to bottle!

I haven't mixed the coffee batch with the caramel batch yet, but the one with the added coffee extract is very good, but very young. I added the coffee extract 8 ounces at a time until I had the right proportion. Since the coffee extract is very strong, the flavors in that batch are strong but...

Ports were talking to me - Time to bottle!

One batch of toasted caramel, one batch of coffee, and a 3rd batch that was toasted caramel infused with some homemade coffee extract.

Interesting choice. A semi-dry white wine yeast known for it's esters.

    WineXpert Wine Diamonds

If you're going to make high end kits, you should cold condition them in secondary. My rule of thumb is simple; you need to hold the wine at (or below) the lowest temp you'll be storing that wine for at least a month. Ideally you'll fill all your carboys in the summer/fall, condition over the...

    Your Favorite Cab under $20?!

It's amazing to me how much good wine is under $20 now (in the last 5 years). I remember when a 90+ wine immediately went to $30+ overnight.

    What is your age?

Youth is the gift of birth, but proper aging is a work of art. I'm 2 score plus 12 more :sm

    What's in your glass tonight?

Wow, a $350 Napa Valley bottle of red. The 1997 is like $1,000 a bottle.

    Paint Strainer Bags

Used them for years making beer, no problems. The elastic doesn't seem to break down.
