    Magnolia petal wine

My bust, sorry for the rudeness. (forgot that Im talking to a senior more experienced wine maker) In the last couple of threads of my dollar store wine, one of the guys did mention that the measuring of gravity didnt just measure sugar itself, but whatever is in the wine displacing the...

    Magnolia petal wine

Yes I know this. Found out in my dollar store juice wine. Its mostly a shot in air unless I use one of those refracters and get a "real" on the points number. But its still bubbling, so I figure let it bubble till it clears out. (Or drink it early)

    Magnolia petal wine

nope...the numbers are what I stated. This week it was 1.10. Im not sure what caused it to be stuck, maybe temperature or not enough nutrient. But its moving along slowly. Took a taste of it and to me, it was somewhat sweet. But I assume this is because its at 1.10. However I like my wine...

    Magnolia petal wine

Well my batch is now 1.20. It got stuck at around 1.30 and stayed that way for a while. I just added more nutrients and another pack of EC-1116 and its bubbling away. I too have considered whether its medicinal uses will have an effect on me. (since I can drink alot) So Im gonna test it in by...

    'Natural' wines

Even though Im somewhat of a newbie to this group and winemaking this article sounds like something an organic vegetarian would come up with. Sure organic grown veggies and fruit (along with organic fed animals) taste better. It doesn't mean you'll get high class quality silky fine tasting...

    Magnolia petal wine

Well my mother kept saying that the Magnolia's are poisonous. So I did a long online search to find if this was true. I couldnt find any evidence that they are poisonous to humans. (However, I did find something that it might be poisonous to dogs and cats..not really evidence more like a snippet...

Hey guys, tried to find everywhere on the internet and could only find one topic on using magnolia flower petals. The guy mentioned having some success but his was the only one. So going off of that I went out picked my mothers magnolia flower petals off her tree and gathered about half a 5...

Is adding sulfites or pasterizing necessary?

Thanks guys. I dont consider my dollar store juice wine to be "real wine" So Im not about to take a trip to the local winemaking store to buy sulfites and Im really low on cash. Just want to see how it tastes after about half a year to a year. (The stuff is real harsh..even though I have no...

Is adding sulfites or pasterizing necessary?

Just wondering if I should actually use these methods. Why couldnt I simply let the yeast gobble up all the sugar till SP is bout 1.00? Ed

    Can I use plastic bottles?

Have made my cheepo country wine and its down to proper FG. My question is, I dont have any bottles on hand and not about to go out and buy any. (money problems) I was planing on using some whisky bottles but only have a few and have 5 gallons worth of wine. Could I use PET1 soda bottles? or...

    BlueBerry Pie Filling Wine

Yeah bought some pectin enzyme but didn't know when to add it. Im guessing that and some bentonite should clear up. As for the thickness (maybe add more water? Only thing I can think of) Ed

    BlueBerry Pie Filling Wine

Ok guys I scoured the internet to see if this was possible since my local "Ollies" store. (re-consignment store) had cans of blueberry pie filling for like 1.75 (U.S.) I went ahead and bought like 5 cans and decided to experiment using used distiled water 1 gallon jugs. I had read from older...

    Yeast question

Thanks greg. I sorta knew it would but couldn't find much on the internet to confirm it. Nothing but bad scary articles about the stuff and how it effects us Americans. Plus I was just looking around at some items to "cheaply" create alcohol at the dollar store. Questioned one item but its...

    Yeast question

Ok guys, I cant seem to find an answer to this question anywhere on the internet. Maybe my searching skills suck or not trying hard enough. Anyways was wondering if High Fructose corn syrup is fermentable by any yeast? Im thinking yes to myself but would prefer to hear an answer from you...
