Thinking about building a carboy rack

To someone just looking at your pic and not knowing how you built it - shear strength looks like something to check. You don’t want it lean over to one side when loaded at the top. (Not an issue with the top 3rd). Easy to anchor to the drywall or studs if any concern. It’s a very attractive...

    What's in your glass tonight?

Sounds like a truly fun night! I don’t want hijack the thread, but how do you like cellar tracker? I started it, but many of my first entries came up wrong (the brand was correct, but year, type, appellation were not right), and it looked like a lot of work to make custom entries. So I...

    soil ph adjusting

This is something I have no experience with, but have been researching. See copy and paste below: Adjusting soil pH Below 5.5: Bring up to 6.0 or 6.5 with lime. Dolomitic limestone will also help raise the magnesium value if it is low. Calcitic limestone will help raise calcium levels. Above...

My experience is that in desirable resort locations the ownership fees (not taxes) can be crazy high - but they are arbitrarly set so that the owner will still get a small positive return. And there is often a long menu of fees that most of us have never heard of that dilute your return. You...

Met this gentleman in a grocery store in Brunswick Georgia

And a nice tasting room where they sell not only their wine, but other blue berry products they likely make, and probably 3rd party products they must feel are complementary and bundleable.

What about Guerrilla Marketing for my Wine business ?

I’m sure you know you can use social media yourself for no cost other than your time, or you can put some money into it. You should both “listen” and “speak” fo0r your b8sniess on social media platforms. There is even an e-book about using Pinterest to market a wine business. I downloaded it...

    Stainless Steel Tanks

Thx for that info. I like the idea of stainless, but i am beginning to think the flex tank might be a better step up for me for now.

    Tweaking kit wine with fruit

Just curious - how long after fermenting until it tasted yummy? :)

    Stainless Steel Tanks

Im curious about what the practical differences are in SS tank bottoms. (I’ve just used carboys.) Sloped? Conical? Flat? I presume the non-flat bottoms are to concentrate the lees to a specific area? Can you just open a valve on a tank and disgorge the lees? Would you? Any advantage to one...

    What's for Dinner?

Newbie Amarone report: it’s definitely the real deal. We drank 1/2 the bottle between 1 and 2 hours after opening and decanting. When I sampled the aroma from the decanter I didn’t think I would like the wine, but I was wrong. The dominant aroma was alcohol, but with a hard-to-detect and...

    Aging Question

I racked three carboys off fine lees today. Moving the carboys caused some fine sediment to drift around in the wine. Annoying, but I’ll think of that as a bonus battonage :).

That’s a common nylon spring clamp. They cost about $1.50 at harbor freight depending on size. I sure you could order online from various sources. They can break with hard use in a shop - but they are so cheap I buy a bagful of assorted sizes. They have many household uses, too. The clamp...
