You should sanitize everything each time you use it before it touches your wine.

    Experience with Super Kleer

I've used it a couple of times. It usually clears anywhere from 12 to 48 hours. After it's done you still want to give your carboy a couple of quick turns a couple of times a day and let it set for at least a week before racking it to a clean carboy.

    Skeeter Pee Revisited

Not to take this too far off topic but is anyone going to bottle theirs like the original author? He put it in clear bottles with a cap instead of a cork. I'm gonna try this but being as I've never capped before just wondering if you rinse the caps with sulphite solution before you cap or if...

WineXpert Adding glycerin to kit wine

:u Wow, I just found a gallon for $14.50 with shipping at $13.74. http://bigriverwholesale.com/zencart2/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=479This one also says that it's USP grade. I guess I should have looked a little more before I bought mine.

WineXpert Adding glycerin to kit wine

I think they were all about the same for shipping. Here's a place that's a couple of bucks cheaper but it doesn't say that it's USP grade, something that I was told to look for.http://www.chemistrystore.com/Glycerin-Glycerin_1_Gallon.html

    Pecan Wine Recipe?

I couldn't agree with you more Desertdance. I, like most other people on this site, am here to find out more on how to make wine, hopefully a good wine, but only for my own consumption along with a few friends. I would not want the headache of trying to sell my wine. I'm strictly doing it for...

    Pecan Wine Recipe?

I'm curious about boiling the raisins. Is this to get rid of the sulfites? The only time that I used raisins I just soaked them overnight. Or does boiling them do something else to them.

I'm curious as to how this works out. I'm going to try my hand at making this in the spring. I don't know if I'll try the Skeeter pee or your Mosquito pi$$. Please let us know how it turns out.

    Is all glycerin the same?

Thanks rawlus. I'll be sure to look for food grade and possibly USP if I can find it. It sure is a better deal than paying $2.50 per 4 oz from my LHBS.

    Is all glycerin the same?

Is the glycerin you get from my LHBS the same as what they sell on other sites for other purposes? Here are a couple of quotes from organic creations dot com about their glycerin. "Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it will attract moisture to your skin. The more glycerin you have in your cosmetic...
