    Yeast for Chardonnay

I am preparing to ferment chardonnay and need to select a yeast. I had a bad experience with H2S using D47 earlier this year. I'd like to avoid this. Renaissance Yeast: my first choice, but I cannot locate a supply <500g. The Avante is available from Lodi Wine Labs in small quantity, but it...

    Sulfur Smell in Primary

I dealt with H2S earlier this year. Stirring/splash racking are all great choices as it does *reduce* the smell. However, the smell was fully eliminated with the following: 1) Reduless added, stirred gently 2) 72 hours later, added Kieselsol and Chitosan to clear 3) 1 week later, splash racked...

    Renaissance for Chardonnay

Is there a source for Renaissance yeast in small batches? Lodi Wine Lab has the Avante in small quantities. That one appears geared towards reds. Every other site is 500g bricks.

    Source for professional labels

Hi all, Do you all know a source for high-quality professional wine labels? I've got a design already made, just looking for a label provider to print/order from. I'm looking for this to be as professional as possible (i.e matte paper, weatherproof, pressure sensitive etc.) I only need 25 -...

Finer Wine Kit H2S with Tavola Riesling

No MLF. However, the airlock after inoculation corresponds to the FWK videos they have posted. This is the practice seemingly endorsed by Matteo and the FWK company. I’m not saying that was the cause of the H2S, but I somehow had stressed yeast despite following all of their steps as advertised.

    Grape sources & Brokers

Wow, GrapesForWine.com will send a frozen pail to Florida for no cost. Pail is $108. I might grab a couple of those. The Bay Wine Brokers is able to send a 100lb of frozen grapes to my door for $210, shipping included. That's pretty darn good. Thanks @Cap Puncher!!!

Wine Grapes Direct has plenty of options, although with shipping it is $300+ per 5-gallon pail.....

Finer Wine Kit H2S with Tavola Riesling

All, I wanted to come here to document my experience with H2S and FWK Tavola Riesling. I followed all the steps as outlined in the instructions. I chose a cool ferment <68F and kept the fermentor under airlock until day 21. ....when I removed the airlock on day 21, the H2S was extraordinary...

    Grape sources & Brokers

I'm in North Florida. I am looking for Chardonnay, Viognier, Riesling, and (maybe) a good pinot noir. I have local access to muscadine and scuppernong, although all the farmers grow them for eating, not vinifying. I emailed an individual who was listed as a distributor in Jacksonville for...

    Grape sources & Brokers

That's good to know! I don't find their prices prohibitive, but it's enough that I want to get reviews and confirmations on quality and customer service. Thanks!

    Grape sources & Brokers

Anybody have any good sources on grapes? Wine Grapes Direct has a great website and provides a stat sheet for the juice buckets. Can anyone speak to the quality of the juice in relation to the info online? I'm also looking to find a grape broker located in the southeast U.S that could help...

    Vacuum Pump over Additional Carboys?

Thanks for all the replies! I wish I could just expand my garage by about 1,000 sq ft. Winemaker81 is correct. That’s the best solution! In the meantime I’m working on building a rack and will line my carboys up that way. I’ve got even more on the way. This is truly an addicting hobby!!!

    Should I rack after Reduless?

I appreciate all the replies! I’ll go ahead and rack it off and start bulk aging. I’m really pleased so far. Wine is looking clear and smelling great!

    Should I rack after Reduless?

Sorry, title should say “Should I Fine after Reduless”

    Should I rack after Reduless?

Had a case of H2S with FWK Tavola Riesling. Added 3g Reduless on 7/24. The wine has cleared beautifully and the H2S is gone. Question: should I add K/C fining agents and then rack? This batch has already gone through K/C once and I really would rather not do it again unless the copper is an...

    Vacuum Pump over Additional Carboys?

My carboy collection is rapidly expanding, and I see no end in sight. I am physically running out of room in my garage to store them. In lieu of purchasing more carboys, should I instead purchase an AIO pump and create a vacuum seal for empty headspace? I don't mind using marbles or wine for...

HELP! Rotten Eggs in my FWK Riesling

Thanks, Bryan. Is it possible to add too much SO2? Does it always dissipate? MoreWine! is going to have Reduless at my door on Monday. Instructions say to rack after 72 hours. I may let it go a little longer, add K/C, and then rack. FWK Riesling comes with D47. In the future, I plan on using...

HELP! Rotten Eggs in my FWK Riesling

I suspect you are correct that the apple notes are really acetaldehyde. I added 1/4 tsp k-meta yesterday during the racking. Is there a way to measure or monitor So2 levels without doing a lab analysis? I don't have the necessary equipment. I've just been doing 1/4 tsp K-meta.
