Received a 100 count bag of 2 + 2 corks from supplier other day, the bag had a slit in it, asked to return them and ordered two more bags, was told very graciously to keep them and they sent out two more. I think if they go in the old "cork-a-dore" they would be OK for some whites but what are...
Good question, but right after I have a note that it was 3.77, then next time I checked it was 4.30, for some reason I thought cold stabilizing would help, don't even ask. If it needs acid where do you start. bk
PH meter is calibrated (as well as a Hanna can be).
Brix is -2
Acid is 7 (with an Accuvin test)
Cold Stabilized for over a month.
SO2 would have to be somewhere around 150 to 200 ppm. thanks. bk
I have some wine I'm making Zin from grapes from the Lodi region in CA, doesn't taste bad, not great, I've had worse and paid $30 dollars a bottle, the PH is off the scale for SO2 additions, what would you reccommend? bk
Never thought about storing H2O2 in the ice box, will from now on. One trick I did to stop contamination was label the pipettes and always rinse out the 20ml with the wine I'm testing. bk
Spoke with the Valley Vinter today about his You Tube video on So2 testing, his first question was, am I testing for total So2 or free So2, OK I give, with my testing equipment what am I testing for? bk
I bought the Midwest SO2 testing kit and I'm starting to wonder how accurate the results are so I tested some "store bought" wine. The 2006 Italian Chianti showed zero, I mean zero, the $2 (actually it was $3 bucks) buck chuck showed about 8-10ppm, some two year old white wine from a local...
How long should i soak corks in a meta solution ?? Dont soak! A little spray and you're good to go.
should i store upright for a couple days or lay flat ?? If we're talking about wine bottles standing up for a few days is good.
I agree with the above. But I have a few questions :
#1 When a Big time vineyard puts out a BIG RED and says not to drink it for 10 years, how do they keep it stable?
#2 Can homies ever hope to keep a wine for 10 years?
#3 Using Midwest Supplies So2 tester I find the wine usually has about 10/20...
No you don't need to be a member, It's pay up front, can't blame him for that, It's coming on a refer truck, I'm guessing you'll have a firm arrival date once it's shipped but once it's off the truck it's your baby. bk
Here is the latest on the group buy from the Missouri Valley Wine Society, you have to pick it up in Saint Louis, should be about
$ 50 a bucket, if you are interested I'll put you in touch. bk
From Bob;
Here is an update on the Chilean Juice.
I was able to get two references that have used...
Talked to L'uva Bella Chilean Juice people and was told they were setting up a distributor in Cincinnati Ohio which is somewhat closer to me, anybody in my neck of the woods (North West Arkansas) want to get some L'uva Juice? bk
