Red clover wine - I'm going for it!

How much clover per gallon did you use?

    Mango grapevwine

I would make two separate batches and then blend them after 9 - 12 months.

    Maple Wine - suggestions appreciated

If you're into trying oddities, next spring try some Black Walnut Leaf wine! It turned out quite nice.

    Cranberry and Grape Wine Blend

I'm a bit late in joining this, but I have often blended Cranberry with Wild Grape wine. I've usually blended to improve / mellow, the grape wine, but not always. I've also blended Elderberry with the Cranberry.

I'm going to try some! Normally with flower wines, you remove all of the green first. Did you do that, it looks pretty time consuming! I'm wondering if it is necessary.

    10 year old bilberry wine

My oldest is a 1976 Beaujolais. It was and still is terrible! It was the first wine to age in my brand new barrel. Thru the years, I've used a bottle now and then for cooking and lately I've used a bottle along with a bottle of $3 Epic Vodka for my Nocino. Subsequent wines that were in the...

Anise Hyssop - I'm going for it.

I made 5 gallons of Star Anise wine 4 years ago. Bought the dried anise and ground it, 7.3 oz. It is just OK, not many people rave over it - only one fellow loved it, and he died. This and my Day Lily wine are ones that i won't bother with again.

    Hobbies other than winemaking?

Thanks! For me the beauty of making boats and turning bowls, and to a certain point stained glass, is that not much of it requires any thing to be Square! This pic shows one mistake that I couldn't hide - one piece of the decking just wasn't quite long enough!

    Hobbies other than winemaking?

Making things. Cabinetry, some furniture, a few canoes, turnings, stained glass, gardening and our course wine making.

    Wild Michigan Grapes.

These look very similar to the ones that I use in Oshkosh. IMO, you'ld be better off if you could cover the grapes to keep the birds out and try to harvest them after the first frost. I usually try to find some other grapes or fruit to blend with the wild grapes. Regardless of how you harvest...

Black Walnut Leaf Wine - I'm going for it!

He says you traditionally pick the walnuts on St. Jean Baptiste day which is June 24. It is only a little past that date if you want to make some. I put a link to a recipe in my previous post. And just reported by him: “The walnut inside should be a clear gel. The walnut’s shell should not be...

Black Walnut Leaf Wine - I'm going for it!

I used only the leaves, and I started it on 6/19/21, only because a neighbor just cut the tree down. It might be different with younger leaves.

    Has anyone made daylily wine?

I made a couple of gallons in 2009. We talked about it in this page The flower wine thread I haven't made any since then and I don't recall Bernard mentioning it again. It was not real good.

Black Walnut Leaf Wine - I'm going for it!

I made three gallons a year ago. I used two pints of leaves per gallon, and I just tasted it last week. It is OK but a little blah, I'll test the acid level, it might need a bit more. I will try blending it with some thing!

Vine wine - I'm going for it!

Are you fermenting with the leaves & tendrils or just the tea?

    Has anyone made lilac wine?

I don't know what kind of Hibiscus flowers - just bought them from the local health food store. They make an excellent wine. Made it with Heather once and with Dill a number of times.

    Has anyone made lilac wine?

I've thought about it many times; but then I look at the work involved in separating the blossoms. I then choose to use Hibiscus flowers or Rose petals.

    Next Batch Will Be…..

Just a thought - if you're into blending flavors, try making a couple or more different batches of wines. Then blend the finished wines to whatever flavors that you want. IMO, you will have much more control on the final product.

    Crane migration

In cold winters, Winnebago can get ice thickness of 3 feet. The reason is that Winnebago is extremely shallow. It is 30 miles long and 10 miles wide, with the deepest spot of only 22 feet. Green lake is about 35 miles away - it is 2 miles x 7 miles, with the deepest spot of 237' and an...
