At what SG do I tranfer off the Primary Fermenter?

Sound advice I'm very thankful that I came across this site with so many different viewpoints about making wine. I'm looking forward to figuring out all the ins and outs of certain fruits and vegetables and learning by taste and smell. Keep the sage words flowing.

    Braggot

It dropped really fast and it hasn't stopped fermenting after racking. So I'm not worried just yet. It might be that the ale yeast i used really sped things up. I'll keep this updated. Of course, if it stalls you're the first person I'm asking about fixing that.

    Braggot

Worst racking experience ever. Ugh. I just had the worst racking experience to date. I have an auto-siphon but I thought the amount was too small to warrant using it so I had the bright idea to just do it the old-fashioned way, where you fill the tube with water and all that. Well 20 frustrated...

    Cork Issues

It was also suggested that I submerge in solution but since I have a floor corker I really didn't need to soak them at all. I uses 9# corks and I really can't tell the difference between 8# or 9#, though the guy at Midwest said for longer aging the 9# he liked using the 9#'s. Anyone else have a...

    Braggot

It did take off fermenting well and I used OJ or the starteer. I used the Wyeast liquid. See i was wondering if I should boil it with the honey and malt but I didn't and many of the recipes I think assume that someone should know to boil the hops but I don't because so far in all the wine I've...

    Braggot

This is the first braggot and I was looking for and found the simplest recipe. I changed it around but just a little and it seems to be going nicely. I have a general question about the odor and that was whether or not folks found that the smell is stronger than the actual flavor imparted by...

Any Polka fans in Here ?

Oh now I get it. The whole post was an April Fool's Day prank...Yeah, it took me until just a few minutes ago to figure that out. I swear the more I learn, the less I know. WSG :re

    Mead

Blueberry and raspberry sound like they would be delicious. Do you find that the fruit help with the lessening time of the aging of the mead? OI know a minimum of 1 year with mead? Unless it's the JAO.

    Mead

Anyone doing meads? I saw that this thread has been pretty quiet and I was wondering if folks who had started meads had checked on their progress and how things were going. I came into this wine making thing with an eye to making meads, metheglins, and melomels (late summers) and braggots which...

    This is me!

Hehe I gotta remember to tell that to my friends. My posting 'voice' sounds like a cowgirl. I'm more of a structured outdoor kind of girl. I don't even take my students outside when the weather is nice, because i don't want to sit on the grass. I have to say that so far no picture matches the...

    This is me!

Yeah. :) Midway through the fall semester a few of my students commented on how much of the clothing I wear have skulls on them. I hadn't noticed but apparently I was off the goth-chart. I had them all beat with the number of tattoos I have as well. Love the new smilies by the way.:b

    Dandelion Time !!!!

Luc, Is it possible to freeze the flowers in case you can't find enough the first day or should you just try to pick it all at once and plan on starting the dandelion wine that day or the next? WSG **oops saw that Wade had froze his flowers.

Any Polka fans in Here ?

I can listen to just about anything except gangster rap (rap is just as broad a genre as 'alternative'), and heavy metal. I love ballroom dancing. WSG

Any Polka fans in Here ?

I will admit I have frequented the local polka bar from time to time because it's one of the few places where you can actually dance with a partner. Shhhh, don't tell any of my friends, I'll never live it down. WSG

    Other Hobby Topic Areas

Vocal women who are actually 'heard' that seems to be rare. I will try to follow your esteemed example. I think it has been really helpful to see how everyone from all over the world makes wine and Luc's informational posts have increased my knowledge base more so than many of the books...
