    Coffee Stout

I thought I was CRAZY and thought I had missed something obvious! I have a coffee stout and a jalapeno ale and they both fall under 30A. I'm new to the beer competition thing (I really wanted to test the waters and see how I compare outside of family & friends). I can't wrap my head around...

    Coffee Stout

What category/sub-category does a coffee stout fall under for a BJCP competition? Maybe I'm not reading the 2015 guidelines correctly but I'm not quite sure where it goes. I'm hoping its obvious to some one who will advise. Thanks so much!

    What R you doing today?

Continuing to build our Valentines Day menu. Dulce de Leche cupcakes have made the cut. I will build them in dessert rings for a better presentation but the test run had to be portable so I can get them out of the house (cause they can't stay)!

    New to Winemaking Forum

Welcome! It all started for us when our cherry trees had a bumper crop a few years ago. Now we have 6-12 recipes going at all times - fruit, grape, vegetable....we'll try anything once. Just ordered honey so we'll be starting our first mead soon. A rather addicting hobby!

    Whip technique for degassing

From left to right is how I have shifted in degassing. I ruined a batch or two along the way :( but to be honest I just whipped the heck out of it thinking I was being extremely productive. I'm all about taking my time now. Time really is the best in my opinion - wish I'd believed that a few...

43rd Annual US Amateur Winemaking Competition

Four dessert wine entries - 3 gold and 1 silver. Feeling rather good about my dessert wines (thanks Joe). Lesson learned would be to put a little more effort into naming - seriously "blend" was the best description I could come up with....Lordy. The score sheets are priceless - we'll done...

    pie crust

Great Gramma's recipe! 2 cups flour 1 tsp salt 3/4 cup lard 4 TSP water 1 TSP vinegar I mix mine in the food processor but she used a fork - wrap and rest for an hour - roll it out.

    What's for Dinner?

My canned version is a little runny as well so I started freezing pie filling. Not great for gift giving but amazing for home or when you need to whip out a pie. I use my old school Betty Crocker cookbook recipe. One afternoon of work equals easy pies all winter. Key is freezing them in the...

    Post a photo, any photo

Oh heavens I bottled it before Christmas I just printed & put the labels on the bottles tonight. It'll be right at 2 weeks in the bottle - I've waited as long as I could to test one.
