RJ Spagnols Zante currants with dried grape skins?

Pardon my ignorance- what is step feeding? Assuming it is a reference to adding yeast incrementally?

RJ Spagnols Zante currants with dried grape skins?

Let's see if it actually gets to .996 or similar. I will take another SG reading this afternoon. Curious to see how close it has gotten to 1.000 As of the morning, fermentation was still happening albeit at a slower level. 🤞

    Starsan question

Also, are you all following the warning/precautions? I was surprised about how strict the handling of this stuff is. I moved away from k-meta as a cleaner as it was really irritating me. I would cough and really feel it in my lungs. Seems like starsan is pretty toxic too...

Do find the spray bottle is adequate at disinfecting most equipment?

RJ Spagnols Zante currants with dried grape skins?

Wow! If that's my ABV I'll be doing a lot of cheering!! I didn't think cheap kits could achieve that high of an ABV. We shall see..

I added the zante raisins and the kit is still fermenting. Tomorrow will be day 9! I think the raisons increased the brix. It's a good thing they include EC 1118 ! SG last reading was 1.023. I have stirred the must daily. The kit included skins as well.

    Starsan question

do you folks pre-rinse your items to be washed before starsan application? Have to admit my urge was to rinse again after washing my stuff... I felt like was was washing the dishes and not rinsing off the soapy suds!

    Starsan question

Hey folks, Just recently started using it. First go at it I filled a gallon with the proper ratio of SS and water. After washing stuff, I threw it out. Thought it was wasteful. Got me thinking about pre-mixing into gallons and using it more sparingly. Is it stable (once -er-mixed with h2o)...

Has anyone tried Uva'tan (by Scott)?

Guess I'll go for it then!

Has anyone tried Uva'tan (by Scott)?

Hey folks, about to place an order on some tannin and came across this one. In the past I've used Tan'Cor Grand Cru. I think the one is a grape derisive the other an oak... not sire what difference that makes. I am trying to impart more structure, mothfeel, body to a couple of wines that are...

What's your favorite yeast for bold reds?

That I do recall. But I don't remember if there is a way of measure malic acid in order to determine an MLF

What's your favorite yeast for bold reds?

I did a MLF once. Didn't see much difference. I am using juices now and rarely use fresh grapes anymore. Doubt I will bother with MLF again. I will give the Avanti a shot. It's only $12 for 50g. Even if I dont use the entire amount due to spoilage that's not a big loss! Pasteur Red might be...

Do you all use nutrients? I've used Fermaid K and Go-Ferm

Btw, can Bravo or Avante be used for whites too?

What's your favorite yeast for bold reds?

Someone posted something a while back here that came from Lalvin that said yeast can be frozen.

What's your favorite yeast for bold reds?

Just checked - they carry it. But smallest size is 50g. A bit too big. That's equivalent to 10 packets. I make about 6 batches every 2 years so I'd have to freeze the package.

What's your favorite yeast for bold reds?

I'm the Toronto area (Canada). I think it's a Swiss company but seems like their headquarters are in Vancouver. I'll search around a bit more but otherwise will stick to a lalvin or red star product which are readily available. Seems like an interesting yeast though... Thanks
