I would follow the "rehydration" instructions on the package and make a starter by adding a little sugar. In about thirty minutes you should be able to see it "working" if it's still good.

Figured I would activate this thread while I was here. Had the good fortune to have near 40 gallons of scuppernongs given to me yesterday. Just looking for this recipe once more! Guess I'll be crushing this evening!

Whew! This is s little better!

I have found a new recipe for simple syrup. Just fill a couple of quart jars with sugar and set outside. Check back three hours later to find finished product.

I could not resist.
